Which catback exhaust for evo VIII?

Alright guys, not sure where I should be posting this but I am in need of help. I found a few good places to get a decent catback exhaust, ETS and Tomei are the two I'm debating on right now. The only problem that I have with these two is that I need to weld the exhaust together which I don't plan on doing. And I don't trust the clamps as they may tend to fall off or weaken overtime.

Anyone else know of a full titanium catback that I can get where there is no welding required/no use of clamps? My budget is unlimited.

If you call ets I am sure they would be more than willing to include any style flange you want into their design to make it so you don't need the sleeve fittings. If that's not up to snuff with you can I suggest the HKS carbon-ti exhaust from Streettunedmotorsports.com ( or whatever site you can find it on, they're just the one I plug the most as I've been dealing with them for over 3 years now). That's the one I run, its light and quiet when driving around town, but when you get on it, everyone knows its not stock.

i'm not sure of anyone who makes a 1 piece exhaust. The box would be almost impossible to ship. Right now our box is 70x14x14.

I would recommend buying one of our 2 piece exhaust systems and have it welded locally if you want a 1 piece exhaust system.

We haven't had any issues with the clamps. If you have any questions let me know!

Thanks!

Michael

I had a mines 90mm titanium catback at one point also an amuse 80mm titanium catback at one point as well. Both were essentially one piece. Held together at the flange as slip fit with springs like a motorcycle exhaust. I believe the only flange was at the cat with a slip fit on the mines, I don't remember the amuse having any. The boxes were huge and a pain in the ***. I'm recalling from memory as it's been roughly 4 years or so since I've had either of them. But since you stated budget is unlimited, then there ya go. New they were around 2000-2500 shipped. The mines was much higher quality then the amuse in my opinion, also more expensive. Either choice requires a jdm bumper, either 7-8, or a 9 rear. Exhausts must be ordered for the bumper you choose, the tips will fit at slightly different angles.

if your budget is limited then a one (or 2) piece TI exhaust is not where you should be looking. TI options are limited and always going to cost $$$. gl

ETS and Tomei make really good products but I'm pretty happy with my full Tomei system. I bolted the DP,02,TP and catback on and lost about 40lbs and gained 50hp on the same tune. I've never had any problems with the clamps but would recommend a new DP gasket if you take it off a few times. No drone, great sounding and lightweight.
Here are a few videos that may help. I watched the first one and really liked the way it sounded. I'm totally happy with my purchase.

My car at 7500-7700 at the roadcourse on the front straight. stock turbo 25/26psi 340whp

dyno video at 500whp.

Its an expensive system but well worth it.

I have the Tomei Titanium as well. Very well built, fits perfectly, and looks amazing. The only downside is the exhaust is EXTREMELY LOUD!!! No joke. I daily drive (1 hr commute) my car so it is unbearable to use everyday. If you put the silencer it is very quiet but then your car sounds stupid when going full throttle. Also this exhaust is 3.5" diameter piping so careful.

I just went with the Buschur SCCA legal 3" exhaust with Magnaflow muffler. So far it fit well and good quality. The exhaust is definitely much quieter and I think it sounds better (deeper tone).

Hmm, Maybe I've got hearing loss then. I'm old and very picky but I've taken my car on 5 hour trips with no issues. I just turn the radio up like any other car.

Hey man I have a friend who runs a fabrication business and he specializes in Ti....his exhausts are second to none and he will make you whatever you want...V-Band, 1 piece, 3 inch, 3.5 inch, angle, no angle, straight tip, turndown tip, it doesn't matter. Also as you will see in the pictures the material and workmanship quality is a step above Tomei and ETS. I highly suggest you check him out.

Here is a pic of a 1 piece S2000 exhaust he made, he is holding it in the air with 1 finger lol
