ACD Fluid question..

Hi guys, I leave for a snowboarding trip the day after tomorrow and I was checking the engine bay of the car before hand for peace of mind and noticed the ACD reservoir was below the MIN line... The cap says ATF SP III fluid but i usually only use Mitsu fluids on my car. The problem is I will not be able to acquire Mitsu Fluid before the snowboarding trip.

My question is can i use just any ATF SP III like from walmart or something to put the fluid at an optimal level without compromising the ACD?

I searched, and everyone's views are skewed and to be honest the answer to my question was difficult to find.

Thank you.

Edited: Nevermind, you check it when it's cold. I had it backwards.

As long as it's ATF SPIII you will be fine. I've used Castrol ATF SPIII before from Autozone.

I didn't see this until it was already edited, but i assumed it meant the levels would be different depending on hot or cold motor. the engine was in fact HOT when i checked it and it was low, but when i went out to my cold car after reading this it was all the way to the max line. Thank you!! you also probably prevented me from dangerously overfilling!

So just to be clear.... the proper level should be read with the engine off and the engine cold, right?

Yea, the most accurate level is when the car has been sitting for a while.
