Evo 7 boot/trunk lid

Hi first time posting,

My question is with my evo 7 when opening the boot with the key or the switch in the car, the boot doesn't unlatch and sit in place for me to open it but opens fully by its self really fast. I was wondering if this is normal or if I have a problem.

Thanks in advance.

Normal. This car is almost 15 years old. The Tension bars that pushes the lid up have gone a little soft. That couples with the old rubber linings that are probably sticky that keeps the lid from popping up. Normal.

His trunk is opening completely, not getting stuck like you're suggesting

Is your car wingless? If so, that's why it's doing that

What I meant also was if it originally had a wing then the torsion bars are much stronger to accomodate for the wing, so taking the wing off and the trunk turns into a catapult (mine is)

Either way though, a wing should fix it
