Question About Valve Cover Breather Filter?

This question wasn't answered in the engine/managment section, so i decided to ask it here.

I have an 05 EVO, and the little port on the right side of the valve cover (Im sure theres a name for it), anyways it cannot be connected to the air intake tube since the intake i have doesn't have anywhere for it to be connected (unaware of brand). Im just wondering, can i plug in an air filter/breather filer to the little port like so? Cause right now i just have the oem " L" hose just hanging there, not plugged into anything.

Heres what i mean by putting that air/breather filter on.

(Not my car, its just so you know what im talking about)
