Evo VIII

So my wife has an evo X in WW, and i currently drive a civic si thats stock.

I ran into an evo 8, 2005 rally red MR with only 12k miles on it at a local dealer. The description says completely stock, garage kept and original window sticker (whatever that has to do with anything).
I guess my question is, since judging by some quick research, the evo 8 is the car to own of all generations? But i feel skeptical about the "stock" comment. I know theres probably no way for me to tell if stock parts were just put on before trading it in. What do you guys think? Its 29,999

good way to check is through carfax mileage it was driven for example. Not the best but pretty accurate. Also run the full vin number through a google search and should it pull up several searches that would notify you of what kind of online history it has for example if it has ever been salvaged. I only mention this because 2 years ago i had purchaed a mazdaspeed3 from a dealer only to find out 8 months later that it had been salvaged in another state and it had been involved in title washing. By the time it made it to texas it had a clear blue title.

Yes they have some pictures that I will post

I will try to grab the VIN as well. I'm not even sure i like the car THAT much especially because of how old it is (2005) and the amount of $ it is. All i have read though is that the Evo 8 is the evo you want to own though.

for that price i would not buy. imo
get the new sti

but seriously its hard to know if it was really stock. and dealers dont know anything they just want to sell.
the 05's are nice but i would look for a low mileage SE for that price

Wow that is pretty sweet. The price is pretty steep, but super nice. I would def run the vin. I got my car stock from org owner. He also had the org window sticker. That is pretty cool for someone to keep.

Also not driving the car enough is a bad thing also, I hope he drove it every now and again and not letting it sit.

That is a steep price, when I purchased mine it was 2yrs old, 13k miles and I paid 28---and that was premium- that was for an 04'bby, ssl. I think he has quite a bit of margin in there. I feel sure cash talks and BS walks--so if you have the cash make him a low ball offer and see what happens.

Thats funny you said that or do you know something i dont?

The dealer even mentioned "unicorn" in their post too lol

I know its steep, thats what i told my wife. Dealers arent one to negoiate but we have bought 3 cars from them in total in the last 3 years. This would be 4 in 3 years lol

I will say to get the carfax done and the dealer has a huge markup on it. Look at it this way, you are THE one that's gonna pay...so I would not go higher than 24k. When I bought my 8 it had 4k miles on it got it 24k tax, tags, and title out the door. Also look online and price match to similar year and miles. If they won't go down on the price, I would ask them how much THEY paid for it prior to putting it on the lot...I bet they won't tell you.
