I think the problem with SMT is that it's hard to design a good SMT for cheap. The only really good SMT's that can be "sports worth" are like the ones on the M3, and that thing is in it's second iteration too. I don't like the SMT on the MR-S, though. It feels like it doesn't really know what it's doing and takes it's time to shift. After driving my friend's M3, the SMG-II really feels a whole lot better.

OPtions add to the price, just like the sunroof and wing do.. The more options the better and yes I am willing to pay for these options. On the other hand, I'm not interested in purchasing without those options.. especially cruise. So if the Evo has a $26k price from the RS to a $36k fully loaded MR, that is a good lineup.. One that would probably have a variant that would suit most anyone.. It only means more sales..

it would be awesome if the production were to really drop!.. i dont think they need to drop it to 1600 though.. but if that's what they'll do, then our car's value will all of a sudden get very solid!!.. something that's very needed, considering the extremely high losses people are taking on their 1yr old evo's!! i mean, should a 30k rare rally car really drop close to a third of it's original price??? seems insane!! it sure is good for the people picking up used ones right now though!! lucky dogs!!.. if the offical production count is released and turns out to be 1500-1600 then those people could possibly make a profit by immediately selling their cars!!

Wish the EVOs come with those seats (front and rear)

Mitshubishi is looking too sell more cars and finally catch up with model year of the car. That is why there is only 1600 coming in 2004.
They do not care to add more value to your car.

If that happens i'm sure everyone will trade in their 02 WRX for a STi when 05/06 rolls around .
If Mitsu folds up on this market share, will there still be an STi here? (Isn't the STi, technically, a "special edition" (announced after the EVO US release was announced), rather than a regular production car?)

The Focus Cosworth is supposedly due out in '06, with more horses than the STi, but if the EVO and STi don't build a market, I don't know if Ford will bother.

But, given that the EVO is no longer homologation for either WRC or SCCA ProRally, it wouldn't much surprise me if the EVO went away. Mitsu's US dealer network seems focused (no pun intended) on selling econoboxes to first time buyers. The EVO requires a different sales/support model.

Alas, good cars are an abberation, these days, as long as most "wheeled appliance" buyers will settle for hogs like the Navigator or H2.

Geez, 7 pages and not even half of it pertains to the 04 evo.

There is no such thing as a non-refundable deposit. ALL dealership deposits are refundable.
