SCI: Evo RS vs Z06 vs GT3

Latest Sports Car International has a nice article on a track test comparing the Evo RS with Z06 Corvette and Porsche GT3.

While the RS is the slowest on the track (surprise, surprise given stock engine), it get lots of kudos for handling feel & steering, driving environment (seats & wheel) and certainly value for money.

Too bad a BR stage4 or a Vishnu Stage1+ couldn't have been thrown into the mix.

WoW! Can you guys even fathom what is happening here?

We are talking about our Evo - same engine, same suspension, just lightened up in weight and it's in a comparo with the Z06 and the GT3 the highest race/performance trim of each of the respective models?

Can you imagine how it would do against a C5 and a 911 Turbo, let alone just a 911 Carrera?

I am amazed myself!

Yeah, here's the same line stats (estimated) for my car, which has some weight reduction and a Vishnu Stage 1+ with a BR exhaust:

RS 1:58.46 11.71 lbs/hp ~$27k
Z06 1:54.31 7.69 lbs/hp ~$53k
GT3 1:51.15 8.00 lbs/hp ~$111k

MyCar 1:??.?? 8.35 lbs/hp ~$35k

Doesn't take a lot of money or work to get the Evo into the same range of power/weight ratio as those other big guns.

Dude, the 911 turbo has 70hp over a GT3. I think it would be a tough match for any EVO, stock or otherwise.

GT3 is a better track car than a 911Turbo. Their acceleration numbers are still similar because of GT3's lighter weight. On a track, GT3's better suspension, brakes and linear power delivery will beat a 911Turbo.

BTW, regular 911Turbo has 415-425hp.. vs the X50 with 450hp. So you're wrong there also.

ANd all the more reason to subscribe and read is becuase on the street in daily driving the RS was so much better than the other two, they might as well have been trailer queens.

I was reffering to the X50 model with 450hp. Even still, I think a 911 Turbo's extra power would make up for its handling disadvantage.

power rarely makes up for handling... if anything it makes the lesser handling even more of a nuisance...
