Intercooler Piping coupler replacements

Are there any good coupler replacements to the stock intercooler pipe couplers for an evo ix? I still have my stock black woven couplers, and I noticed the other day that one of the couplers specifically the one that sits right behind (top right) the radiator fan is breaking up by being rubbed by the sharp edges of the fan shroud while boosting. I've done some online searching and I could not even find the direct stock replacement ones. Any advice? Thanks!

FORGE sold a (stock) silicone clamp/coupler kit that was similar to the SAMCO kit, but it was cheaper in price and didn't come with an air intake.

I'm in this same boat and i haven't really found any place that sells the couplers individually and for a decent price. You can buy the forge kit from MAP here:

Forge OEM style Couplers:http://www.maperformance.com/forge-i...9-fmkt003.html
But it's almost the same price as getting the ETS UICP

ETS UICP Kit: http://www.maperformance.com/ets-upp...i-evo-8-9.html

I'm not sure about OP, but i have a Nisei LICP so i don't need to replace all my IC couplers, just those on the upper side. Sorry to thread jack OP, just wondering if anyone knows where you can buy the couplers individually and at a good price? or if it's worth it to just get a new complete UICP?

I'm not huge on buying useless parts, but if it means that it keeps my coupler from rubbing on the fan, will last longer since the OEM ones, and won't cost that much more than replacing my OEM style than how is it useless? And i just contacted STM to see if they can help. Ill post up what they say.

If you expect me to respond, please phrase your comment in a manner that allows one to understand the question. Seriously.

Not really knowing what you're asking, other than the very last part, an UICP does nothing for performance.

Edit: typo

Forgive me. I hadn't had my coffee yet. What I'm trying to say is that just because the ETS UICP doesn't give you any more power, that doesn't make it useless. My stock couplers rub on my rad fan and are getting stretched out from being old. So if the ets piece eliminates the long stock couplers, doesn't rub on my fan, and the couplers last longer than OEM. It doesn't sound useless to me. Just my 5 cents.

1. Why are the couplers rubbing against the fan? Might be easier to fix the problem, instead of installing some shiny part.
2. How do you know they're stretching out and what impact does that have?
3. A solid pipe eliminated several couplers. Is that a good thing? The couplers allow for some flex in the assembly, as the engine moves on its mounts, which isn't the case with a pipe. The folks who designed the car aren't idiots.

1. Just like the OP said my coupler is rubbing against the fan under boost. You can clearly see it on the dyno, which is how i first found out. One of my friends might still have a picture. I can try and find it if you are having a hard time believing me. My engine mounts could be getting old and flexing. After 40k miles at 26+ psi I'm sure things are starting to get worn out.

2. I know they are stretching out because you can see them grow on the dyno. Also you can clearly see the fibres separating. http://imgur.com/FLASKfQ,JRw0zSZ#0 It just looks old and worn out. I don't want it to fail. Especially since i'm going to run more boost than it was designed for.

3. Yes, a solid pipe eliminating couplers is a good thing. If i could not have any couplers at all than i would. But you'd have to have solid engine mounts and plenty of otherstuff that doesnt make a good DD. I think we are on the same page on this part, we're just saying it differently. I understand the system needs flex. But if i can replace a 6inch long coupler designed for OEM boost with a 2inch coupler designed for higher boost applications like mine. My car isn't OEM, stop treating it like it's yours. The folks who designed our cars designed it differently than what i want to do with it. No disrespect to them, but their couplers can't handle 40+psi because they weren't designed too.

I'm not trying to be rude so please don't take it that way.

While your comments can be taken as coming from someone treating the symptom and not the problem without any knowledge of flow dynamics, it's easier to tell you to get the useless pipe. Good luck.

BTW, I run ~26PSI "of boost," but clearly you know more about my Evo than I do. Having just browsed your past posts, you seem to run ~24PSI. Fascinating and not altogether surprising. It's likely no use asking if you've tested for boost leaks, as it would have been the first thing you brought up. Perhaps you should have kept the Datsun.

If you can't find anyone willing to sell the coupler kit for the uicp I have a set of samco couplers that were on my oem uicp when I swapped it out for my STM uicp. If you want them just send me a pm.

While I'm flattered that you went through my post history to try to figure more info about me and my car. All you really had to do is ask. You can PM me anytime you want. I came into this thread to try and find a way to buy individual intercooler couplers and i got more than enough info. My symptom is that my car is getting up there in miles and the parts are old. I can't test for leaks if there is no engine in my car. I didn't come into this thread to have to try and diagnose something. I came here to find out where to buy parts.

If you want to come diagnose my car then come on over. It's sitting here in my schools shop in Walla Walla Washington. It's on jackstands waiting for me to put my 2.2SLR in it. You can come dyno your car as much as you want on our AWD Mustang Dyno. I'm one of the only students who uses it anyways. I'm sure when i said i was running 24 psi, i probably was at the time. But my car was always on the dyno and i was always changing my tune for one reason or another. Maybe I'm terrible with words and i've insulted your intelligence or something. My sister was the English Major. I'm sorry. I just have an old and tired intercooler coupler and i just wanted to know where i could get a good deal on new ones. I got all that info now so thanks.

Also i wish i could have kept either of my 240's or my GC8. 240's get associated with being ghetto but they are stout cars and will take a beating. Just not getting t-boned by a truck.

I told you where to buy the parts. You don't have a functioning Evo and you're a kid in school. Just great. No acknowledgement as to your absurd notions about my car, which actually does run without missing a beat and not a single useless part, anywhere. There's this thing called intellectual honesty. Look it up.
