Should be OK in the Evo. Toluene is just an aromatic hydrocarbon, not alcohol like the older octane boosters. Those would dry out rubber parts in the fuel system and cause a lot of damage in the long run. Toluene is different. Shouldn't cause any damage at all unless you use too much. The you might need to add a little ATF to help lubricate the fuel pump.

The octane rating of toulene is in the 114 range if I remember correctly. Don't need much to bring a tank of 92 up to 94.

ATF = automatic transmission fluid.

There are a few members using a xylene/pump gas combo. 12 gallons of 91 to 1 gallon of xylene nets you 93 octane exactly.

I haven't heard about anyone having any problems running a small ratio like this...

Xylene

I personally have not run higher Octane fuel's in my EVo,yet. I have been running 93 Octane/ Xylene combo in my 92' GMC Typhoon for a couple of year's now with no bad effect's, except snapping a front-propshaft and a bent rear drive-shaft. I used the formula that was used originally for the turbo-buick's. I do have an upgraded ignition system and do not run a catylitic-converter with a full 3" straight exhaust, please be aware that Xylene can ruin your cat.

i've read using xyelen will melt your fuel injector gasket or something along that line... if i was in california... i'd put in 3 gallons of 100 octane, then fill it to the top with 91 octane

To off-set that you run Marvel's Mystery Oil with the Pump-gas/Xylene combo, it prevent's the gasket's from becoming brittle.

That's the problem with these additives that are not leaded gas, they eat out your engine like Ron Jeremy on crack.

I'm sorry but i may be misunderstanding, you mean add the ATF to the gas tank? that does not seem right.

i think if you start adding lubricant, you better be prepared to have a oil catch can because in the long run, i bet it would collect on the turbos

I know it sounds crazy, but that's what the guys running large volumes of octane boosters like toluene, xylene, and methanol do. You only need an ounce or two from what I understand.

For the record, I've never tried this myself...so don't sue me if things go wrong! But this is what I read when I researched this topic a while ago.

there is a gas station about 15 miles from my house that sells race gas that is 103.5 octane. do you think it would be safe to run this gas or would it be better to use the mixtures that you guys are talking about. and how often would i be able to use this without harming the car. oh, and one last question... what would happen if i used this with the 93 octane dynoflash?

(i know nothing about gas.... )
