Thanks,

You should unhook your add on stuff before bringing it in. It isn't their job to deal with crappy installations, and unfortunately most of them are just that. Yours may be great, but the majority of interior modifications are complete crap installs. They aren't getting paid to figure out a mess, and for the most part that is what evos come in looking like.
I had one I did a few months ago that was so awful (and customer told me it was "all stock") that I could not even get the dash out without having to pretty much disable all their crap. Hacked in MR gauges, some gay glow in the dark guages installed with zero slack, TWO turbo timers, not sure if either worked, stupid led lighting strips and on and on.
Dozens of wires wadded up like spaghetti, almost all of it in one color so no way of knowing what went where if you were to unhook it all, no terminals of any sort, wires twisted together, wrapped around screws for grounds, and best of all when they had extra wire (in some cases 5+ feet), they decided to rather than shorten the wiring or bundle it up, they looped it around and around and around parts of the dash to take up the slack preventing dash components removal as well as movement of the parts attached to the wiring.
I had do the job on my back laying in his filthy *** car so I could remove the bag without removing the dash. Yeah, even at that it turned a 20-30 minute job into a 2+ hour ordeal. No I did not get paid one cent extra.
Fck crappy installs.
So yeah. Not surprised. They can't technically refuse to do the job, but they don't have to do anything other than put things back to stock working condition. Do them a favor and take out the things that are going to complicate the situation. Not only will you be able to remove/install things yourself knowing it is done to your expectations, but also it will give clarity of the situation: if you think it is a pain in the *** having to remove the stuff, then you'll understand why they don't want to waste their time doing it for free.

Sorry but not the case, I have two pillar gauges, installed by English racing and an aftermarket radio (single din as factory).
The issue seems to be that Mitsubishi is saying the recall takes 2 hours, and the dealer says I have to leave the car for one full day and pick it the next, because the work takes 6 hours.
So basically they are being paid for 2 hrs and doing 6. they want to charge $200 extra

Sorry, but you need to re-read your question and then re-read what I wrote.
I didn't say a word about your vehicle... you asked a very vague question and I gave you an explanation for that vague question (which your next post supported my response as well). LOTS of dealers will want you to undo your stuff or pay for removal/installation of things because LOTS of Evos come in looking like they were modded by retarded monkeys. Don't take it personally.
If you have an aftermarket radio that really doesn't enter into it as half the cars that come in have that and they will unplug easily anyway, even if someone hardwired the aftermarket harness it will still unplug from the radio making it a non-issue. The pillar gauges though are a potential issue, and if they want to charge you to remove and reinstall them and you don't want to pay it, do it yourself. $200 is a bit much, I'd do it myself for that too. It won't take 6 hours to take them out and reinstall them, however there is no telling (from their perspective... remember they didn't install them in your car) how well they are installed. Again you could have some dipshiat that wrapped a mile or wire around every possible thing in the dash for no reason which creates more problems, there could be things without any attaching points (I've seen people tap wires and solder them all permanently with devices that don't have plugs on them either, so essentially you have to cut wires and resolder to reattach). There is no way of knowing if someone with any amount of talent installed that stuff or not until they go in. They are going on the side of caution.
As for pay, the tech gets paid 1.6 hours to do the job if the dealer does not deduct the administrative fee from the pay. 1.6 is the total time Mitsubishi pays for everything start to finish including clerk expenses for warranty filing etc. The "2 hours" they put on the mailer is your expected wait time if you bring a stock vehicle in, which accounts for checking in, doing paperwork, etc. They aren't getting paid 2 hours.

before you continue making this a troll thread,,,
yes you said I should remove it.
second, I did not say the dealer said it will take them 6 hours to remove my stuff. they said 2 extra hours and $200.
What I said is, Corporate Mitsubishi, says it will take dealer Mitsubishi 2 hours for the recall
How ever Dealer mitsubishi says it takes them 6 hours to do it. (OR 8 hours counting removing my stuff so you are clear, one hour or the gauges and ONE hour for the radio)
PROBLEM, I already have lost 3 days from work and vacations trying to do the recall.
All of this because of the dealers, and job is not done.
finally it will end not being done and the dealers leaving a note: "owner denied service."
I already removed radio and gauges, I'll take it monday and probably they will have another excuse.

Very interesting, I need to be mine still. Now I'm nervous bc I have aftermarket gauges, radio, etc. I would assume most Evos do going in there. Hopefully it helps my wideband and oil pressure gauge aren't working lol.
No it does not...
I did it, I removed my gauges and my radio. the radio has a harness that is easily removed, but aftermarket has other wires that you need to insure does not interfere with the dash removal
same with the gauges, if they are in the pillar they are afraid to remove the dash, same with its wires/cables.
The good part they did it quickly.
The sad part the dash now has a few dings in it.
In the factories they install the dashes with special equipment that dealers do not have.
Well meh. I have my car back and when re installing the radio decided to replace it with a Pioneer with BT and HD radio. Meh.

If you have an 04-05 and are unsure if it is included, PM me your VIN and I can check it for you.
I have done a ton of these recalls, If the car has no aftermarket wiring It takes 45 min to an hour. I did an evo 2 weeks ago with a lot of **** wiring that I actually had to cut and rewire but it still only took less than 2 hours.
