EVO Warranty and Mitsu
I agree about the motor mods and slip-launching being the main issues with clutch longevity but Mitsubishi should have been able to foresee US owners driving like this and should have made a clutch/driveline that can take it. I remember reading an article in a Corvette magazine by the factory guy who does the accelleration test driving and the Corvette standard is something like 200 full blast powershifting runs. If a new design doesn't survive this test they re-engineer until it does. Admittedly this is harder to accomplish on an AWD car.
Gentleman, Gentleman. I have about 16000 miles on my car. I took it to the track once 13.1 at 105.9. I raced my friends Sti and I slipped it and it left the hole like a beast. Bottom line the Evo has a weak clutch yes. But dont get mad at MMC if you dont know how to drive a stick. Notice I said drive not move a stick shift car. P.S I do smell the clutch form time to time inside but thats ok opportunity cost!

And to make new 04 buyers happy they upped their warranty to 10/100,000. After he told me that he said "hey, it worked for Hyundai"
, so I don't know how truthful that is but maybe zooracer can jump in here since he works there.
