just another EGR thing...

so once upon a time (a month ago) i got a P0401 code on my dash did the research egr insufficient flow. so basically my options are clean, replace, or delete. i dont really want to delete it i would rather just try cleaning it and what not so my questions are: my car has 76,000 miles would the egr really go bad with that little of miles on it? should cleaning it do the job or should i just get a new one? i was seeing im assuming used ones on ebay for $20 but not any new. im assuming i need to remove the throttle body and all that stuff not sure how hard that is either. ive checked and felt for hoses being blown off at least 3 times and felt every hose going into that thing and nope everything appears to be on there. thanks for any help

You are from Cali,I'm affraid deleting is not an option unless you have your people at emission stations or certified shops who can do emission tests.

im stationed in cali for now actually from MN but i really didnt want to delete it anyway but it is kind of problematic because its happened twice now so im looking into how much it would be to get rid of the engine code and just delete it, if not i will probably just take it off and clean it/ replace it but deleting it seems to be the best option. ive checked the vaccum lines several times by just feeling them and cant seem to find any hoses that are disconnected

Soooo I'm in the same boat, kind of. I had a p0403 code for the longest time, went thru everything EGR related and at the end of it all ended up replacing the vacuum control solenoid, (which turned out to be bad when I compared the resistances in the solenoid). Now that I have everything back together, I throw a p0401 code. EGR valve has been cleaned recently and hoses are in good shape, not popped off. can anyone chime in on what could be the case? 183k, evo 8, had this car for 90k.
