WTF-My EVO was rear ended
I was driving home from teh dealer last week and some stupid BI@#$ rear ended me while I was sitting at a stop light. Shew said she didn't see my Lightning Yellow EVO on a clear day!
I already saw the adjuster and there gonna replace my back bumper (that was the only damage) and pay for an alignment, frame check, and rental while it's down.
My question is does anyone know where I can get a new VIN sticker for the new bumper? I asked the dealer and they said they didn't know and would call around, but I'd probubly have to remove the sticker from the old bumper and reaffix it to the new one. I don't think you can take the sticker off intact, and since the car is only 3 weeks old (and not even a year old by the production date), I want it returned to the exact condition it was in prior to the accident.
Can anyone help???

No luck.. My car got rear-ended by a jackass kid, replacement parts will not have the VIN Tag on them, and getting a replacement vin sticker is nearly impossible (Possibly to make it easier to tell if it was replaced?)
Make sure you don't agree to anything, have the bumper skin removed and have them closely inspect the Bumper bar, struts, and frame kicks.. I found a little damage after the skin was removed..
The good news is the repairs will be virtually undetectable if its done by a good bodyshop since the car is new, the paint's age will be almost the same, and it should match fairly well. The bad news is it will be unlikely you will get a new VIN sticker for the bumper skin.

Isn't the VIN sticker supposed to be on factory equipment and not on aftermarket parts (or parts used to replace the original parts). VIN's are to make it obvious that the part is original from day 1. You're not supposed to put a VIN sticker on a part that got replaced.
Well U want Vin on Replacement.. What do go your government or state DOL office ask for VIN and check and they will give u VIN.. same thing I did On my Nova 75 custom race car with 454 V8
Welcome to the club. My Evo was 8 days old when it got rear-ended on I-95. Bent the frame rails under the trunk and popped a few welds. Gonna run about $4K when all is said and done. Now I have the distinct displeasure of fighting with the other guy's insurance company to fork out the dough.
Man, I miss my Evo!

VIN stickers are used to identify parts if they get stolen and chopped..if you take it off when selling the parts as salvage no one can buy them, and if they are left on then one could identify the part as stolen if it is.
If this is just the bumper cover, don't worry about it, it won't affect the value of your car if it has a dot replacement...after all, that is what bumpers are for and most people realize that.

Hbruce16,same thing happened to me last night as well, but I was at a stop sign. The woman stopped, then started to take off,
but I was still stopped in front of her.Barely scratched the bumper cover, but where the bumper support bolts to the frame it appears to be somewhat damaged. Now for the bad news for me,and good news for her,I let her go without even exchanging
insurance info,as I was being Mr.Nice Guy,it was her lucky day.
Oh well, too late to regret it now,but will check for any other damage when I put it up on a lift today at work.Btw,most likely only a 5mph hit, very square in rear by an Audi.**** Happens

LOL, how does someone rear-end another person? The only explanation I can come up with is they were tailgating and u braked fast. Any reason other than that like "I didn't see your car" is just stupid and was just cuz they weren't looking, I guess. How can u not see an EVO? Or any other car the size of an evo? I guess those ppl run into roadster's all the time...

, I actually rearended someone a few years ago. We were driving through a 35MPH street and passing some building construction when a dog ran out in front of the guy ahead of me. He locked up and skidded to a stop, and even though I reacted my non-abs car slid on the gravel/dirt from the construction and I hit him.Long story short it does happen for non-stupid reasons sometimes. But again, I'm sure anyone hitting an Evo is either dumb or too much in awe and forgets to hit the brakes

EVOS keep getting rear ended (mine twice now) becuase of 1 word.... BREMBO....
Well, I was rear ended when the traffic in front of me on the freeway slowed down severely for construction. The other guy was in the right lane behind a semi and pulled out to pass him. He didn't realize that the left lane was doin about 35 and braking while he was still clickin along at 65. His ABS didn't stop him soon enough either.
Doesn't make him an idiot, just in the wrong place at the right time. Don't assume things just because you're limited view can't comprehend them.
