8 vs 9 help

I'm new to the forums and joined because I was told they are a good place to find used cars, I'm looking at an evo 8 or a 9, and know that mivec and the turbo is the biggest difference, is there anything that could push me more towards one vs the other? I want something mostly for the weekends so I don't care about economy or stiffness in the suspension

Besides what you have mentioned, The Evo IX came with 10 more horsepower from the factory (285). The steering wheel's 3 alloy 'spokes' are now black, The seating material on the IX has been updated, no more blue inserts. And of course the front bumper...

Evo 8 if you want fully built.
Evo 9 if you're going for a semi built daily

'Tis true! But finding them in "stock" condition is not easy.

They're the same car except for MIVEC (variable intake valve timing), and the 2005 8 has ACD like the 9.

Is there any way I can find stockish forms of either in the for sale section, I've found several but they already have mods on them.

Obviously I'm bias, but I prefer the front bumper and interior enough on the IX that I wouldn't want an 8 (if I had the choice).

Thanks for the help everybody. I prefer the 9 looks wise, but all I find is the Mr, and I want the 5 speed. I just wasn't sure if mivec and the ACD is worth it at higher power levels

I'd say Evo 8. It's a lot easier to make it an Evo 9 than if you got an Evo 9 and wanted other parts. I've seen people make Evo 8's practically Evo 9's lol
