They have the same brakes and also some come with front LSDs.

Use a evo 9 turbo or just change the stocker to 20g internals and your onto a winner

not sure how many of those are running around Iowa, though.

Ahh in America you only have late models?

My mistake, here in New Zealand all models of evo 1-10 and even the vr4 evo 0 are pretty common.

Well in that sense 8 or 9 all the way.

I would love a late model evo but not a ten. Apparently they got **** rods and exterior wise don't look nice at all.

Newest isn't always best. There's a reson why 10s are almost same price as earlier evos (over here anyway)

a IX with equal mileage is going for about what a X goes for here, too. a X is a great daily driver/weekend warrior, IMO. i also think they look awesome with a nice-size/offset wheel and lowered a bit. only the fuel mileage would keep me from dailying one.

i think most people buy an Evo for specific reasons. for some reasons, the VIII/IX are more appealing to us. it seems most people that buy Xs have other goals in mind for them. for those goals (interior quality, fit, finish, road noise, looks, etc) there are a lot of other cars out there in the price range to compete. i think that keeps pricing down because they can go out and buy another GT car and get the same experience.

I would imagine a ten feels much more "tame" compared to the earlier models. Seems to be more appealing to the middle age crowd who want a late model fast car without being classed as a "boy racer" like us with previous evos.

I currently daily a evo 5 and don't find gas mileage too bad, obviously **** compared to a corolla though.

If you want to experience that raw feeling you need to get behind the wheel of a evo 1-3, preferably a 3. Those ****as are raw.

I do envy your situation as you can't decide on keeping a 10 or getting a 8 or 9. Personally 9 all the way.

I would love to get an evo 6 lol but yeah how many evo 1-7s are running around the U.S.? Probably like 10 if even that many lol I would import one if they could get across customs and all that but there's no way.
If I ever did upgrade turbos it would have to be something exactly like stock just more top end.
On another note, I put my x up for sale yesterday. I blame you guys hahah just kidding! Hopefully I get a quick sale. So once again I thank all of you for the useful info and the great discussions

an VIII/IX is going to put such a smile on your face, you won't be upset at us for long LOL. the best part = there's a few suspension upgrades you can do to make it even MORE nimble. mine is night-and-day different than before i took it apart. SO fun to drive (though not quite as comfortable for daily driving; which i don't).

I will probably be putting ohlins on for suspension. I won't daily it either, mostly track and some street prob just on weekends. If not ohlins then I'll do KW's

both are good choices, though Ohlins more often get the nod for a daily driver. i have KW now and am still working to get where i want them. they will soon be going to Robi for a revalve and new fluids. i'm told to be patient until then because they will be very capable at that point. they have SUPER low miles, if you happen to be looking any time soon. i may be willing to let them go
my only issue with Ohlins is that they are sprung relatively soft, so if you want to go more aggressive you will most likely need to revalve. the cost, plus springs, plus revalving, shipping, etc... it's a bit pricey. but only if you are particular and trying to squeeze out every bit of performance.
out-of-the-box seems decent for either, though, and definitely better than stock.
just my opinion, of course

Hahah it probably won't be soon, I think I'm gonna save up so i can buy one cash or just a small loan so it would most likely be this fall/winter! And I have to find the perfect one for me hahah I think I want a RR one. If not RR then I'll possibly settle for white but I'm aiming for red

When u was shopping for an evo was looking into an evo 9. But for the hell of it I test drove an X and I was sold immediately. The looks of the X are something that grow on you. I love it. But if I had the extra cash I'd buy a 9 as a toy.

I didn't know the 4b11 had inferior rods. I'll have to research that.

Oh I would love to have both that's for sure. I think the only reason he said it has inferior rods is because the 4g63 is a closed deck with cast iron block vs the 4b11 being semi-open deck with an aluminum block. The 4b11 can still handle good power in stock motor just the torque is what kills it.
