my 1st gear is where the position for 3rd gear should be on my shifter. 2nd gear is where 4th should be and as a result Reverse gear is extremely hard to select . I have to either find it when the car is rolling back or select it with the car off. If I just try to go str8 into reverse the gear makes a wrecking sound when it goes in reverse.
What can be the cause of this? everything was perfect before replacing the clutch release bearing and the gear box had to be removed for that job.

Adjust your clutch pedal, and check to make sure your shift cables aren't bound up or being pushed on by anything
