That actually does look like one winter worth of rust. I would buy it. Whats the asking price?

It doesn't look bad to me. If you buy it and you want an Unrusted stock exhaust I have one free for the taking if you pick it up in philly. Really for a 10 year old car it looks great. My exhaust manifold was coated in rust when the car was 4 months old.

Also I don't think kbb over values these. I think low milage unmolested ix's ate highly collect able and only going up in value.

Coming from the muscle car world, and having learned this the hard way:
Engines can be rebuilt better than factory.
Suspensions can be upgraded.
Transmissions replaced.
If an interior looks like it was used as a wolverine cage or a henhouse, restoring it is not much more than "needs a little TLC."

Bodywork is different. Once a car is rusty or has been hit, getting it back to factory condition is expensive at best and high impossible at worst.

Lesson: whatever else you do, get a car with a straight, solid body.

Yes the car is priced high. Regarding the condition, first of all it is not a brand new car. You are looking at almost a 10 year old car. No matter what the mileage, time will take its toll on anything. Rubber degrades and metal rusts. I think you are obsessing over the condition. It does look like the owner tried to take care of it. It has a clear bra up front based on the pics.

Unless a car has been kept in a garage or storage facility with temp/humidity control, a 10 year old car is not going to look like it came off the dealership floor. Just my opinion.

If you feel the need to question the purchase, just step away.

I agree with evo8426. If it's not the car you want, it's not the car for you. Just be ready to pay when you do find what you want, as it's painfully obvious our cars holding their value well.

If you want to bring the car to a better condition (which is great) you can purchase it and do a bit of work. Just offer the guy the best price you feel you will be happy with, and see if he takes it. Even if you get a bunch of people agreeing with you on the condition and price, the owner will likely not drop the price past what he is comfortable with.
As for being priced higher than KBB, that is fairly normal for a low mileage Evo. Depending on price and my budget, I would buy that and start scrubbing and sanding

skip it IMO

think of the first time you go to work on the car. Change suspension maybe. Think of how many bolts are going to be seized, break the heads off, etc., etc.
