Victim of hit and run

I am SO livid right now and there was nothing I could have done to prevent it.

A little story before the accident. My girlfriend's dad is very interested in guns, but he has never fired a gun before. I own a few guns and decided to take him and his son to go shoot my pistol. We went to the gun range to get him familiar with shooting and hopefully help him decide on what kind of gun he wants.

Anyways, we get done shooting and looking at guns then decided to head to the mall to look at something for Father's Day. Then on the way out, I walk to my car and i opened my car door. It made a really loud rubbing noise like your fender is smashed into your door noise. That's when I finally noticed that my car was damaged in the front end. Called the cops and they looked over the mall video camera and it was a lifted white f-250 pickup truck. The idiot drove over my car, got out looked at the damages, then drove off.

Now I'm stuck repairing it out of my own pocket. I am NOT a happy camper and very frustrated that people can't seem to take responsibility for their actions.

Dang man sorry to see that. I do have some good news though- I have a pair of silver fenders if you need them.

Damn sorry to see that. Sucks to see people would have that much disrespect. Good luck with the repairs.

I feel that because I parked so far away, I was the victim of this. I parked at the second to last parking spot. I'm thinking that "what if I parked closer to the other cars, would it still happen"

The fact that the guy got out and knows he damaged your car makes me mad. Shows a lack of respect for others property and cowardice.

What a d bag. Did the police pretty much tell you they wouldnt be able to find them? Someone in my own neighborhood hit my datsun and had the audacity to lie about it! The cops said they couldnt do anything about it because I didnt witness it when it happened but im 100% sure who it was. Some other neighbor even saw it and lied to me and the police to stick up for their fellow countrymen (I wont say where they are from because I dont want to get into an off topic debate). That really sucks though, sorry that happened to you.

if you have identified the other vehicle, the insurance company shouldnt hit you up for excess, as it wasnt your fault and have evidence in video.

Most accidents happen within a few minutes from home or in parking lots. I wouldnt even think of parking in a shopping centre, to many doors opening and shopping trollies being pushed by kids and over loaded mums...

The police told me that they will look into it and do their best to catch the perp. In other words, I'm screwed and best call my insurance for a claim cause that guy isn't going to get caught.

Oh well, just glad it was only cosmetic and not engine or critical components related.

Don't know, never asked them. I really should. If the police won't put forth the effort. Pretty sure social media could find him and he will exist on the Internet for a lifetime.
