I'm back!

Hi. I'm sure none of you remember me or even care, but I just thought I'd make everyone aware that I'm back! I was becoming quite a regular up until January when I sadly put my fq340 into a barrier after apparently making it too much of a beast to handle.... the car was a rite off and I was unsure how it would all turn out but today I went and bought this lovely IX

I'm looking forward to catching up on what's happening in the evo world because after I destroyed mine I was too bitter to continue frequenting the forums, and I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure this evo doesn't have the same fate as my old one, starting with not driving like a ****

How did you manage to crash the first one if you don't mind me asking? I am assuming came into a turn a little to hot. The one you picked up looks nice too btw, I am sure it feels great to have an Evo again. I would be devastated if I crashed mine. I would have to buy another one for sure.

Yeah it was totally my fault. Came round a roundabout too quick and lost it. Panicked and let off the throttle and it snapped back with some serious force and went into a barrier. The engine was ripped off it's mounts and the floor pan was creased. It was in bad shape. The insurance all went through ok though and after deciding to put the money to good use and buy my first property, I'm now in the position where I could get another. Lesson learned!

Well at least you walked away and learned a lesson. What are the plans for the new to you Evo? Is it already modded?

Well that's it. Cars can be replaced, limbs not so much yeah it's actually at a good level and I won't do a lot to it. It's got a manifold back exhaust, induction kit, remap by a reputable company to a safe 386hp, huge front brakes with 8 pot calipers etc, coil overs, stereo etc and an alloy rad. My previous IX had forged rods so was running higher boost and gsc s2 cams so obviously had a bit more poke, but it was probably well into the gearbox danger zone and just going to end up costing me a load of money in repairs. Maybe the bug will bite me again and I won't be able to resist, but at the moment I'm happy with it how it is

Yeah when I was on stock turbo and bolt ons that was when my Evo was the most fun on the street. Only made 330whp on AMS's mustang dyno but I had peace of mind. I used to kick its *** on a daily basis. Never once gave me any issues. Sounds like yours falls into that same catergory.

What model would this Evo fall under in the UK?

Yeah mate, that's it. More power doesn't necessarily mean more fun. This ones a keeper and i'm not going to mod it till it's problematic or drive it like an idiot until I crash again.

Wow, we share similar stories. I use to have a silver IX until i totaled it. For a while I also did not feel like getting on evom either, but couple of months later and got myself another IX and promised myself to take it more easy with the car. Cheers mate

Just a few more pics

It's got purple wheel bolts which I'm unsure about but it's got the same purple washer type bits under the bonnet, so I think I'll probably keep them
