Unhappy Evo 5 ABS & AYC Codes

Hello Forum!

About two months ago I imported a 1998 Mitsubishi Evolution 5 from Japan. Great fun but I failed inspection.

The Issue I'm having is the ABS is constantly engaged when braking. There's no ABS light but there is a AYC light.

When I get the codes out I'm getting..

ABS: 43 Solenoid Valve (RR) System 35B-15
AYC: 65 ABS Monitor System Open or Short Circuit

Anyone know what could be going wrong?

Your AYC pump is likely kaput. You should consider removing it all together and going with a USDM 8/9 rear diff. There are threads on it on lancerregister.

Here is a thread to get you started http://lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=359239

Hey Nemsin,

Appreciate the fast response! Gonna try your suggestion out and try tinkering with the pump first.. Trying to keep costs low til' I pass inspection

Don't know if it's related to anything but when I failed the inspection they mentioned that Brake Booster is dead (Causing rough idle too). Think that's related to anything? Or is it a entirely different situation

Since you are in BC, give John at RockyMountainImports a call. He is in Victoria and has a lot of experience with importing cars and getting them through inspection. He is a very stand up guy and can get your car sorted and through inspection. Tell him Jason from WA sent ya. http://www.rockymountainimports.net/contact-us.php
