I'm looking to purchase an Evo in the near future that will be used as a daily driver, but will eventually become a weekend car after i've invested some money into it, since i also have a truck. After doing a lot of research i've decided to buy an Evo rather than an STI. I've been reading lots of articles and posts on forums to figure out which gen has the most power potential but i haven't really found a definitive answer. It seems like a lot of people recommend the 8's due to their rawness. I like to drag race but would like this to be a well-rounded performance car and plan on putting a lot of money into it. I'm hoping someone on here can give me some advice on which gen would be right for me. Thanks in advance!

Evo VIII
Evo IX
Evo X

I would say Evo 8/9.

 

Evo IX is best choice i think. ready for light boost up and tune.

 

04 evo 8 Rs

 

03s are cheaper and can be fine if you find them low mods and miles

 

If your thing is to mod and spend your money doing that then you'll probably be stroking, then start out with a base 8 as the platform
