Hey guys, I'm just wondering who made the switch from one car to the evo and why? I came from 2 Subaru Stis! And kicking my self in the *** everyday on why I didn't buy one sooner!
And here's my world record holding stock turbo Sti! Ran 10.97 @119!
I tried a Subaru once. It lasted all of six months LOL
To be fair, it was following an 06 IX MR. I learned.
Before I bought my first Evo, I was into Hondas. The Evo handled even better than my Type R. It was a lot of fun to drive, too. I was hooked.
I test drove a modded 2011 REX, he had spent about 10 grand on mods and was pushing about 300WHP so I bought an. Evo
horrible. i know a guy with a stock one that made more power than that LOL.
after selling my first '06 MR, i had an '05 WRX with EVERY bolt on in the world and the largest stock turbo made (vf22) and still only made about 290 whp.
i promptly sold it and over paid to get another '06 MR LOL
Came from a B5 S4 6MT.
Sold it because it needed about $3k in maintenance (timing belt, camshaft tensioner seals, valve cover gaskets, EGTs) and had some rust starting.
Wanted something turbo, MT, AWD and four door for under $23k. Found my car with 45k on it and I am so glad I did.
Was between the IX GSR that I now own and a 08 STI with 47k, but reading about ringland failure on the Subarus made the decision easy.
I've always been a Honda owner so I naturally went with the S2000 for my fun car. But after test driving a friend's EVO... I quickly realized I was driving the wrong car!
Coming from Hondas and now dabbling in the Evo world. I have to say Evos are very impressive cars and I'm so glad I now have one. I've always loved the raw mechanical feel of older Hondas and I'm really happy that Evos have a lot of that also. The power is addicting and the handling is just sublime. First time I tracked my Evo I was blown away by how much less work I have to do to go fast. Track days in a Honda is fun but by the end of the day I just felt beat up by all the input it needed to go fast.
With that said, I still have an ITR and I'm never getting rid of it. Something about an N/A engine screaming at the top of its lungs is .
Do it! Clean high mileage examples are starting to tick upwards in price and low mileage ones are now hard to come by.
I paid $15.5k for one with 50k miles, back in 2006, or so. Looks like they still up there or more.
I think I'd rather get an S2k for pretty much the same cost.
