AEM vs. Innovate Motorsports AFR

Is the AEM AFR worth the money over Innovate Motorsport? Can i set these up to data log? Reviews on either or if youve had both would be appreciated, thanks!

looked into them a little more, they both use the bosch sensor, and you can log with the proper wiring. Anyone have problems with gauge reliability?

The main gripe I hear about Innovates is the fact you have to recalibrate them bi-annually. I started with an Innovate LC-1 with a DB series guage and now have the MTX-L. The guage that came with my LC-1 kit was defective out of the box but was easily warrantied out. I have had no problems with my MTX-L. Datalogging is accomplished via a USB to DB9 serial converter cable which runs from $10-20. I will say that the recalibration can be annoying depending on your exhaust setup. When I was running a QTP cutout downpipe it was a pain as it's not nearly as simple to disconnect as a standard one. I have no input on the AEM side but I hope this helps.

I've run Innovate for years. No problems.
Plus the gauge fits nicely in the old "Lancer" part of my gauge cluster.

AEM just released a new WB -- Can display AFR values in hundredths of %

http://www.aemelectronics.com/?q=pro...ntroller-gauge

It is also a low profile gauge, so it is not very deep at all. If I was going to get a new wideband this is the one I would get.

I ran an Innovate A/F gauge for about 12 months, hated it! Nothing but issues, reading - - - - at idle instead of an actual A/F ratio, other issues with accuracy, I could never really trust it. I swapped to an AEM unit about 3 years ago and have never had an issue since, works perfectly. I know what I'd be buying.

I've seen that issue but it wasn't the gauge, just a crappy tune on a friends car.

That's a real crappy tune that it reads leaner than 19, or whatever the gauge reads too. My tune was ok, when I installed the AEM it read the idle a/f normally, jumping around between 14.5 and 15.3 or so, same as it does to now.

Tried the innovate, hated it. Re-calibrate/inaccurate.
Installed the AEM UEGO, and it's been fine for two years now.

I'm with him as well. Tried innovate once and it broke. Stopped working probably because of the placement of that sending unit box. I've had countless AEM UEGO W/B gauges and never once had a single issue with any of them.

If you are going to use the WB for logging go innovate lc-1 (or 2-Newer smaller design) if you are running it for purely a visual I would go AEM.
Here is why, with the Innovate you can adjust the linear scaling of the 5v sensor voltages with the LM programmer program to match the same scaling in your logging software. Makes it 100% accurate. You cant do that with the AEM UEGO. What ever it spits out is what you get. Depending how you wire it, it's most likely not going to be accurate. The frequent calibration for accuracy is a good thing..

Also the LC-2 has an auto calibration feature that makes it super simple to do if you are worried about doing it. It contains two fully programmable outputs as well.

Used an innovate mtx-l on a build a few years ago never had any problems with it, was reliable and served its purpose. Haven't had experience with aem though.
