Evo 8 Help "Will not start" *with video*

**NOTE IF THIS THREAD IS UP THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED, THANKS**

Hello, sorry to make this post as I hate looking for help but I am not very tech savvy with the Evo...

I have a 2003 Evo 8 A couple weeks ago I had issues with my car starting but I just figured it was the battery, I drove it to the car wash with no issue starting, after I washed the car I got in to start it and it would only turn over.. I waited a few minutes, nothing.. a few more minutes boom it starts right up.... the other day I was going to let the car run for a few minutes and the car would not start, again only turning over.
I then took my battery to get a charge, brought it back and nothing again.... Bought a brand new battery and it is still doing the same thing.. Can someone give me some tips on what this sounds like? Is it the plugs? Starter? Can anyone tell by the video?

Any help would be greatly appreciative as I have no clue where to start. Thanks.

I'll be honest I haven't even checked the spark plugs, I have changed them once before but as I said I'm not that savvy with the Evo mechanically and I've heard alot of things about gapping and the type of plug to use so I've been kind of scared to get in there. Does it sound like that could be the issue according to the video?

Also thanks for the quick reply.

To me it sounded like a low battery. But since you got a new one I am forced to look at other places. A fouled set of plugs will cause starting trouble too.

I thought the same thing... will check the spark plugs as I've had them foul out before but not to the point the car wouldn't start. Car also runs a bit rich don't know if that has anything to do with them fouling.

Thanks a ton for your reply, do you know anything about what kind of plugs/gap I would need if so please PM me so I don't fill this thread up in case plugs are not the issue.

Have not checked the fuses, and I am not entirely sure what a Cop is... Im assuming some sort of fuse checker? If so which fuse do I need to be checking, and would a fuse cause the car to start 50% of the time then not start at all now?

Read up on a thread started by Ted B. It will involve checking the electrical connections.

Any recommendations on Spark Plug gap?

don't know how much of a difference mods make when gaping
395hp 18psi
495 28 psi

NVM .024 seems like what everyone goes with, I'll try this first once I take the plugs out

EDIT: NOT FIXED

Put new plugs in and it fired up fine, let it idle for about 15 20 minutes, went outside it was smoking a little bit, pressed on the gas started smoking and died out.... would not start back up... What exactly would cause this and could it be the gap wrong? pulled the new plug and it looks like ****, worse than the ones before.

So I took the plugs out, checked the gap, they were all still preset at .030 and fouled to ****... I went and got bpr8es and I changed the gap to 0.26, put them in, let the car run for a bit... Then I shut the car down, started it back up... I did this a few times and it started to seem a little hesitant but started right back up about 5 times... The idle would jump up and down to about 800-1500 every 10-15 seconds or so.

Sounds like a vaccum leak or a failed MAF. How's the MAF looking? is it dirty/clogged?

It could also be the coil pack too, might not hurt to check it out as well.

Gap your plugs to .020" and check your Idle Air Control Valve
