New guy in TX intro and ??'s

Hey guys, I'm new to evolutionm, and fairly new to the evo scene. I used to be an sti fan before I really read on the evo's and realized an evo fits more (on paper) for what I'm looking for in my next car. Ive wanted a turbo car for a long time and I think I'd be happier with the potential power to $$ of the evo Vii or ix vs similar year sti.

Here in Houston there aren't many evo Viii or ix to choose from so I'm sure I'll have to travel for one. what id use it for is DD, occasional auto x and strip visits and enough power to shut up my Mustang buddy about going import over domestic.

I like that almost every major component seems reasonable to replace or upgrade, and I even think the styling is great.

A lot of the info I've read is old threads so my question is for the evo owners in 2016. Is the consensus still the same? Are they holding up? How's the fit and finish on the now 10-13 year old cars? I know I'm loosing a lot of features going from BMW but I'm looking more for power, mod ability and generally staying together for the next 3-5 years.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Thanks datevokid, I hope to find a tx car, not much snow around here! Your car is sweet. apex silver and wicked white are my two favorite colors. isnt your precision turbo bb but a bit on the big side? Say, compared to fo black? Where does peak boost happen? Sorry, I'm still learning but you'll never know if you don't ask.

Appreciate it man and yeah it's a PT 6466 so it's pretty big compared to the FP Black and right now I'm running low boost at 26 PSI and honestly I don't know what peak boost is
