Newb here

Hey EvolutionM, Im not new to cars but I am a newb with evo's. I know the basics of the car but you guys are professionals and I'm just a scrub. Ive come across a grip of money and have great credit. Im looking for an Evo 9. What should I look for besides the normal visual inspection?

find a reputable local evo shop to bring any potential purchases to for a PPI (Pre-purchase inspection).

Try and find one with lower miles, not highly modified and not "scrapin pavement bruh" and you should be fine. You will pay a premium for an Evo IX that checks these boxes, so beware when you realize it's hard to "find a deal" on an Evo.

I think I found one on here but it's been for sale for a while now. Seems like it checks all the boxes but seems sketchy. 2006 evo ix seller is turboup. Going to possibly make the trek this weekend

Some people are just firm on their price. The guy who I bought my car from had it up for quite a while, but wasn't willing to negotiate either. If he lowered the price of the car by about $1,000 he probably would have sold it within a day or two. A lot of the reason cars sell so fast is because the seller is willing to negotiate since at that point they just want the car gone.

People typically don't like getting rid of their Evo, so they aren't going to give them away.

Gotta pay to play my man.

EDIT:

Also, make sure to look at things like tires, brakes, interior (cleanliness), and ask things like the last time the fluids were changed, oil was changed, etc., to get an idea of what kind of owner the person has been. If tires look bald and oil was changed "about 5,000 ago because I just haven't had the time" typically is them saying "I beat the snot out of this car, broke something, and now I'm trying to sell it before it becomes my problem."
