2005 Evo 8 MR w/ 10k miles
Hey all, I am just looking for some insight on what you think a 2005 Evo 8 MR with 10k original miles, clean title, near stock, etc. would go for or is worth on the open market? Any help you could give would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I can't speak for others or name an actual value. Depends on lots of things.
If stock, a bit above $20k. Maybe $23k. I'd deduct for each aftermarket part. That's just me. Some would pay more, some would pay less.
Anything more than $23k and I'd pick up a different car.

I doubt you'll find a 2005 with less than 40K miles for $20K flat.
So 10K miles MR 2005...$25K in stock form in mind my for sure: in so so iffy market somewhere where there are few "imports" and Evo is anomaly within 200+mile range.
Bring that car to California...and am sure more than $25K.
Locally a 2006 SE with 35-40K miles asking prices are literally $30K.
And you know what: there are few cars with that mileage that are original clean and un-messed with, so the owner will get very close to that when the person looking for clean original comes about.
That is why a 10K MR is definitely worth $25K.

No way do I pay $25k+ for an Evo, It's not a collectible. I'll leave that for someone who is willing.
I'd even buy a clean BNR32 before a $25k Evo. Come to think of it, that's most likely what I'd pick to daily.

Old guys market, who want to own an Evo as their first weekend drive, that's who will buy it, if it's been modded from a known reputable shop then that might be ok. But if you push it into Evo 9 price then it might be over looked. I started looking at Evo 8 MRs but as I looked at the more expensive ones I thought WTF I might as well go after a 9. Id rather have a 60k 9 then a 10k 8 because old guys spend way to much time reading model specs
Majority of people on here don't fall into this category and where I'm from there are mostly young guy Evo owners with high mileage Evo 8 and 9s.

Whenever I hear people talk about evos with 20k or bellow miles I find it hard to believe. You do realize changing the odometer is super easy right? Let's be real here people, there's no one in there right mind that's going to purchase a car and only run 10k miles within the 10 year life time. You would have to garage it ( which cost money), insure it or not, register, and any other cost associated. Any car with super low mileage ( old cars like ours anyway) I would naturally assume the odometer has been altered.
My friend who has a 04 evo sold his for $20k. Sadly, he changed the odometer to say it had 60k miles when in reality he and I both knew it was more like in the 200k miles mark. I myself have been cheated many times when buying a car. I bought an evo 3 years ago ( not the one i have now) And I got tricked. The dash didn't have any check engine light on- until I was halfway home. He said there was no prior accidents but when i took it home and checked, there were noticeable wavy lines in the paint around the quarter panel.
what I am saying is there's a lot of scammers out there. The likeliness of it being cheated is much more so than one with super low mileage.

It's pretty rare for someone to not have any record of mileage over a ten year period. Be it DMV, an auto repair shop, insurance, etc.
Then there's CarFax.
I suppose it's possible.
If I find a "10k-mile" Evo and it's in good enough shape to fool me, I'm okay with that.

About a year ago, there was a 2005 evo mr that a local Mitsubishi dealer scooped up from a seller who was moving. Car had 11k original miles, and it looked the part. Even had the original airbag tag. Maybe a reproduction, but the car was beautiful. I went to see it in person when I was getting some oem parts. It sold in 3 days for $29k. Twice what I paid for mine, but I could definitely see somebody paying that. It wasn't me though.
I bought a documented 3500 mile Evo and now has few more thousand miles, so yes there are documented car out there that clearly show beyond reasonable doubt the mileage thru condition and paperwork to back it up!
Here, Theres alway news coming up on grey imports being rewound as there's no domestic records of the car existing coming into the country other then a import certificate, I bet each car gets assessed to see how much mileage they can get away with!!

now that I don't really believe. I'm not a big fan on comparing the supra to the evo8/9 but there is one thing they have in common. the supra had a pretty similar story on becoming a collectible and overly priced in the car market. once they ended making supras right around the 10 year mark is when they started retaining value for quality and low mileage supras which the evo is on that path. they might not fetch for as much as supras but clean ones will be expensive and people will want them. being a car that took the 4 cylinder game by storm in the US and turned out to be a legendary car that was only produced for 4 years (evo X is not an evo) I find it hard to believe it wouldn't be a collectible. people have there opinions but you look at history of other cars with a similar story. you see those cars being collectibles/over priced because they only become less and less common everyday. just my view on car trends and I can say I didn't buy my evo to become a collectible at all because I'm going to drive the damn thing. that's just how I see the market going. supply and demand!!!!
