Evo 8. Big turbo, big fuel, big power

Hello! Recently I purchased an evo 8 under the idea that it needs a new engine. Cylinder 4 was measured at having around 130psi while the rest where 160psi. That being said this car is a highly modified car. Currently running e85, 1650 injectors, ams900x, speed density, and other supporting mods.

That being said; this car was brought up from Texas where e85 is much more available then where I live in MA. Short of tune is there anything else I should account for when "downgrading" to 93?

I would say possibly injectors, depending on how well those 1650's will run on pump. Also, if you plan to rebuild the engine to its current spec, I would figure out the compression ratio. Then see how you want to rebuild. Alot of pure e85 builds have higher c/r than pump gas.

Go with an FiTronic flex fuel kit from TSComp that way you can run it when you're around a gas station that has E85 without having to worry about switching MAPs. I live up in Melrose so I know the struggle. If you live anywhere near Boston, there are stations all around the Pike with E85

Thanks for the advice Josh! And Turndown I live in Worcester. My nearest option is like Charlton on the pike. I planned on doing flex fuel but right off the jump just wanted to ensure I didn't need to account for anything else other than tuning to revert back to 93. Plan is to make less power because I have 0 need for the same power this thing made when it was running correctly haha

You could easily have it tuned so that you aren't making crazy power too. With the cost of a tune, might as well get both in case you ever have the desire to throw some E85 in and not have to touch anyhting to make more power. Just a thought!

I absolutely appreciate the input! I supposed we shall see how it plays out once the engine is out this weekend and from there assessed for damage.

Ran my own compression test because the previous owner went off what he was told by the shop. Results are as follows 115,125,120,100. Warm engine and throttle at 100%. Maybe I will get lucky and it'll just be the headgasket lol. Hopefully get my hands on a compressor today and can perform a leakdown before the weekend.
