Dupont chromabase or sikkens paints are very expensive. You also need reducers, activators and additives as well. You can buy cheap paint but it does not hold up to UV, It wont harden right or be robust against road debris.

If you have the dough I can understand why someone would do a full colour change. But honestly, why paint when you can wrap? It's a fraction of the cost.

Don't ever plasti dip a full car.

I didn't say they were cheap, I said they weren't gonna be the majority of the cost. The labor will be. That said the materials still cost a pretty penny. Also, just to clear things up, I wasn't advising he cheap out on it or buy crappy paint lol

Think about this too... pretty much every time I paint I find some sort of unseen corrosion or metel repair. Also this is a good time to fix and oem metal defects or dings. Do you want your painter to just go over this or do it right? Do you think a cheap painter will just skip past this stuff?

Not in spray cans no. Use rubber dip, comes in gallon cans (same company), it's sprayed through a gun, and there are countless 6 figure cars that are dipped and being dipped everyday with excellent results.

Many other companies have come out with a similar product. If I were looking at wrapping vs dipping I'll take the dip thanks.

when I see plastidip on a car it screams to me someone wanted a "custom" car but had no talent to paint it or do something original. Sorta like the people I see with black-crap painted on thier tail lights. When I want custom tail lights I take the lenses off and paint the internals to match the body for a true original look.

be careful with who you choose because by the time you start having problems the job will be paid for and you will have no recourse to get your money back. If you treat your evo like I treat mine You owe it to yourself to do it right the first time.

I dipped my car, think it turned out good for a first timer. Cost less than $400 for the kit and 4 gallons of dip. I don't have $4k lying around for a paint job, nor do I have the time or talent to paint my whole car. Some ppl hate dip, I think it looks good when done right.
