Consider picking up a separate set of wheels/tires for the track. DD miles will quickly wear down any decent track day tire.

Track like road course, or track like drag strip (i.e. 60 foots)?

Are you willing to have a summer/winter set (since you are in MA) or are you going to get all-seasons?

Yeah, if you want a tire that would work well in a couple of months, that would be a Blizzak.

When this thread was started, by the OP who never responded, the summer tire seemed so appropriate

As Joe suggested...the Nitto NT05's are great. Relatively inexpensive and some phenomenal feel...

I've used a few new sets of 255's on stock SE wheels for 4 years...had a blast.

But then again, in Socal it only rains or goes below 65 degrees about 5 days out of the year

Good luck!

Yeah, they really are great tires. Very smooth and responsive for daily and cornering all sorts of freeway ramps.

Both of these work well. I really like the Hankook but will run either the v12 or Nitto NT05, which ever is cheapest when I need them. My Nittos did okay at the track, though I did chunk them a bit (expected, from an all-season tire). I'm not sure if I've run the v12 at the track, though.

The NT05 is not an all season tire. It's an extreme performance summer tire in the same category as the RS3.

Agree with above, Nitto NT-05 was a decent tire 5-7 years ago. I've learned the hard way with this tire as it was never competitive in autocross against the Starspec II, RS3, RE71R. One tire I had a lot of respect for is the Goodyear Eagle F1 240 treadwear tire. Also Falken has a well liked budget friendly 200 treadwear tire. Pilot Super Sports was also mentioned and great choice. You've got options, lots of good info on the web about these tires.
