EVO IV, V, or VI

Hi,
I am technically new to this forum because i have never posted here but I have been to the forum many times in recent months in the hopes that someone might ask the question i'm about to ask. Due to the hype over the new EVO VII everyone seems to have forgot about the best EVO's ever the IV, V, and VI. This leads me to my question. I live in North Carolina, USA of course and i was just wondering if anyone knows how to get ahold of an EVO IV, V, or VI in the US that will be street legal. I have e-mail many companies that are importing EVO but they have either not replied or told me that they are only importing EVO VII's. I want the IV, V, or VI mostly due to the fact that parts are more redily available but also becuase they just look sooooo much better so anyway if someone could tell me how i can get a street legal one in the US you would be my best friend.
Thanx in advance,
Nate

Your only bets are to find someone selling one that is already registered or to look at this website and find an importer to help you.
http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/

Just so you know there is a huge cost to do it yourself.

Also I have not seen anything that indicates the performance of the 4,5,6, or 6.5 is better than the 7. If you are only concerned about the looks, you are going to spend a whole lot of money for nothing.

Search some threads here in the for sale area though. There is an EVO V for sale by one of our members.

Unhappy

hey, i tried to do the same thing, i wanted to import my favorite evo. the evo IV. but sadly you cant. no matter what you do to the car, it wont be legal. if contacted the government on this one. but if you do want one, there is one way. you can buy one and have it liscence and registered as a rally/race car. or another tactic is to buy a 97-00 4 door mirage and throw on the evo kit of your choice. import the engine, and other parts to build an evo. its a little expensive, but if your a die hard evo fan like me, then i recommend doing that. its what im doing. good luck

Just so you know, it will be more than a little expensive in that part. See the link in my Signature for more info Just so you know, I recently got a quote for $10,000 for labor ONLY and I have to get all the parts needed

Are you sure that's the later phase 4G63 (EVO IV+) and not the EVO I-III/Eclipse/Talon/Laser one? They are differently oriented. Just to make sure.

On top of that, you still have to do more upgrade for this set up to work, fuel system, ECU, all sensors....

Well, the $10,000 shop I talked about did not just put the engine into the Mirage...they did way more than that

If that for $2,200 CDN, that's a steal however, you will need all the suspensions bits, extra mount, upgraded fuel system, drive shaft, axles, rear diff, if you opt for AYC, you will need the AYC ECU and all the sensors and wiring set up...It still sounds too good to be true, but who am I to say that

LanEvo: I would not publicly state what that shop will do (they did that before, I would like to protect their interest) for that kind of money. But at the end, the product will be a car that's as close to the EVO as possible.

Tearitusports: What do you mean by performance? I would only agree the 7 handles slightly better but I doubt the 7 performs any better even that of the earlier siblings.
