Daily Driving an Evo 9?

What's up evo fam! I thought I would share another one of my EvoVlogs with you (Evo IX MR). In this video I talk about the necessities of a daily and whether or not the evo meets the standards. Gas mileage, drivability, comfort, room, power necessities, general maintenance, etc. I hope you like it, and if there is anything I missed or you want to chime in on, please feel free to tell me in the comments

Introducing this topic 13 years after its release is a bit late to the game dont you think

As far as a DD, a non modded EVO (rare bird for sure ) would be OK as a DD. Once modded, would make it undesirable for me.

All in all, good job on the Vid

I might run my AC on 3 if the car has been sitting in the sun but then 1 or 2 after the initial heat is gone. A typical summer day here is 100 degrees with humidity. So, something is wrong with your A/C. When did you last change the cabin filter?

I changed my cabin filter 2 months ago. I may have exaggerated in the video a bit, but the AC does work in settings 1-4 well, but in comparison to other cars, settings 1-3 isn't very refined. I'll usually just leave it on setting 1 and wait 5 minutes for it to cool the car down

I agree... after having 2 CT9As and a X MR, even the X which was for the most part stock and better for heavier traffic cause of the tranny, I would tell anyone to not DD an Evo. Of course this is also depends where you live in the USA... if you are near any major metro city, forget it. I DDed my first Evo and the other two were weekend cars and I prefer it this way. I realize though that this isn't always possible for everyone for obvious budget reasons.

like the girl part bout power windows made me laugh... pfft.. tell her to get out then... this car is not a luxury car. Luckily most Evos have power windows.. except for the folks that have RSs

I had my AC refreshed not long ago - feels great actually, that's one thing I'm really happy with on a DD aspect with this car. My other cars don't blow air this cold.

otherwise, I may be spoiled by 3 other daily drivers, but I would hate to daily this car

A woman returning from the dealership with a new car purchase will be driving some miserable tiny SUV with the smallest engine option, one with a folding rear seat that can accommodate her shopping. So, if you want to turn a women's head, that's what you need to drive, lol.

theres no way I couldn't daily mine Evo. I live in an urban area and drive about 30 miles round trip to work, half highway half city streets. I take my car everywhere , grocery store , gym etc. Doesn't really matter whatever gives me a reason to drive it I do.

ive had mine for over 10 years now and it's been my only daily the whole time with a 45 minute one way commute to work. ive been able to save some mileage on the car by riding my bike during most of the summer.

^^^

DD'ing it just takes the sport / special occasion out of it. Not to mention, those of us that have high-end, track oriented coilovers

I have DD mine since the day I bought it in 2006. Its been to 3 countries and 80K miles. It has been the most reliable car I have ever owned and has never let me sit. 450/400 on an HTA71

I love my Evo, but I have to say it does beat you up a bit. Even the OEM clutch is a bit heavy, and the seats do such a great job of holding you in the perfect driving position and removing movement that they can make you a bit sore if you drive your car a lot.

I DD my IX GSR, granted my work commute is only about 14 miles round trip.

I have a 98 F150 I could daily but I love driving me Evo.

Good, thorough video!

I've DD'ed my IX RS for 7 years. Love every minute of it although I do have a perfect canyon carving commute with no traffic.

Even with spirited driving, I still achieve about 21-23 mpg on 91...and 18 mpg on E85 even with 440awhp. For me, it's still be pretty respectable for mpg.

On maintenance, I gotta say...its been super cheap. Maybe I got a good one, or maybe I'm just lucky...but it's been less to maintain than my wife's VW Golf.

Anyway, like a few guys said...if you love driving (and are lucky enough with a fun commute), these cars are bullet-proof and make for a fun daily
