yeah i remember when evo first came out, people were saying the evo weighed 4000+ lbs (based on labels and manual)... which made no sense because car and driver tested it for about 3200 lbs..... i think mitsu is just correcting a dumb mistake/typo.
thanks for the info. any recall IS important.
i will stick this thread so all the people can see it at least for the next couple of week and i will also edit the title to be more specific.
thanks

Thanks for the heads up airborne.....
btw, the only people who were saying the Evo weighs 4k were people who didn't understand how to read the door sticker. The GVWR is NOT the weight of the car. Its the maximum weight of the car including passengers and cargo....ie, when the car is fully packed, if it weighs more than the GVWR you are exceeding the limits of the vehicle.

On our truck scale at work that only measures to the nearest 20 pounds, my Evo with CF wing, no sunroof, and a half tank of gas weighed in at 3280 pounds.
I also measured one corner at a time to check the overall balance. The numbers don’t add up to 3280, but it gives you a rough idea of the distribution.
left front=960 pounds
right front=980 pounds
left rear=660 pounds
right front=640 pounds

Yep, the Evo still sucks. It is front heavy, as is the STi. All that gear up front adds up. That's the reason I still have the spare in my trunk (to keep the weight somewhat balanced). I believe the factory quote is 60/40 f/r.
here is the rest of the recall..
"GVWR is incorrectly rated at 4422, and it should read 4222. front should read 2270, not 2249. the rear should read 1995 instead of 1973. This was a MMUSA internal investigation recall, and NOT proported by NHTSA.

wow is the Evo's weight distro really that uneven? that's like 66:33 which is worse than most cars around. one would think on a front-engine performance car it would be more around 52:48
