Running really rich when hitting it

Just want to know if this is normal for an evo. Bought an 03 evo not too long ago. Just last week went on a cruise with some of my buddies and noticed everytime i would hit it the car would start running really rich. My air/fuel gauge wont show anything crazy but theirs clouds of smoke that gets released from the exhaust. Dumping lots of fuel seems like. Very noticeable. The dude i got it from said its normal and that its tuned that way. I can hear the fuel pimp whining even with a full tank of gas. Says thats normal too. What do you guys think? Maybe just retune it?

Those afrs sound about normal for 91/93 id say.

The cloud of smoke is just fuel. Cause the ecu goes rich when in boost to stay cool and knock free and "safe".

The fuel pump whine could be normal. Depending on brand.

Some are loud brand new, and some whine when they are dying. I know walbro are known to whine before they die.

fuel gets dumped into the exhaust between hard shifts, it would result in a little flame without a cat.
