2005 Model Options?? Wish we had a GSR..
Hey Guys,
Does anyone agree that we should have the true model options that are available everywhere else? We are getting the shaft, while Subaru offers a WRX, WRX STi and may be bringing over an STi Spec-C.. Get on the ball Mitsubishi and give us the ability to build an Evo the way everyone else around the world can!!
This is the way it should be in the U.S...
GSR Package : Automatic Climate Control, SmartNAV, ACD, AYC, 6-Speed, 271HP Twin-Scroll, etc etc (Make this model the equivalent to a "touring model")
RS Package : Stripped Model, No Power Amenities, Autocross/Track Model, 5-Speed, Optional Urban Jungle Package to compete with standard WRX, Cheapest Model
MR Edition : Automatic Climate Control, Exclusive Colors, 280-300 HP, ACD, AYC, Bilstein Suspension, Enhanced Turbo, Aluminum Roof/Door panels, etc etc (Make this model the highlight of Mitsubishi performance and position it against the upcoming Spec-C)
I really want to know what options mitsubishi will offer with their evolution model line next year. (2004/2005 model) I know that there are strong rumors pointing to the arrival of the MR edition, but I really want to order a Lightning Yellow model, and this is not feasible with the MR.
I dont just want the technical options that everyone wants, like ACD and AYC; but I want the automatic climate control that is available everywhere else in the world and should be available standard on a $30k car.
Unfortunately, Im not going to be able to get my Evo until next summer. I already have a list of plans for it and I plan to continue doing my homework on it so that I can hook up one of the sickest evo's in the east coast.
Lets go Mitsubishi, you know we love the car.. help out the loyal Evo crowd in the U.S.!!

i got these pics from a different thread:
pics of the 2004 EVO VIII
On the window sticker, it says it's a GSR model. I thought the GSR model was a 6spd (is that onlyl in Japan?).

excellent post!!
this leads me to the following conclusions:
Those pics came from a dealer in Puerto Rico
No automatic A/C
No 6-Speed (As you already noticed)
There will be other variations of the EVO in the U.S. if they are modelling a GSR and an RS.
hmm.. what's to come?

I definitely wouldn't expect a larger motor any time soon. The 4G63 has established an incredible reputatuion for durability, reliability and raw performance.
As for a larger turbo, keep your eyes open for the new MR. If that reaches our shores; you can find your larger turbo there... if not, opt for an aftermarket turbo kit.
damn.. while we're on the subject of automatic a/c's; the following cars have them included and sell for less than 30k..
-Subaru WRX (Semi-Automatic System)
-VW GTI/Jetta
-RSX/RSX-S
-TSX
.. theres probably more, but take a hint mitsubishi

i think that when u start adding options like automatic climate control, cruise control, etc etc..i feel like it makes the evo lose its purpose and its fame of a badass rally bred street car..
ACD, AYC- doesnt that take place where the Evo VIII smog equipment goes ???, 6-Speed,
an by having an aluminum roof , will it still pass the safety ratings that it needs for the US market , along with the bumper supports (adding to the weigh )
