Safe Driver Monitor

My insurance company tried to raise my rates by about 40 bucks a month and after arguing with them, they agreed to keep my current rates if I use a safe driver monitor lol. Wondering if any evo owners have used these. They say its because of my age.

imo having to use one of those things would kind of defeat the purpose of owning a high performance car.

Why just change the formula that calculates speed in the ecu? Can anyone think of a table that references that calculation?

they aren't just looking at your top speed. The are looking at things like Throttle position to see how aggressive you are on the gas pedal, they are looking at rpm, abs etc etc. Its an insurance company, they want as many metrics as possible to calculate risk.

I used that thing in another car and it was irritating as fakc. It logs every thing you do and beeps every time you do something wrong, such as braking too hard and going over the speed limit. You literally have to drive like a grandma for the entire time you have it. At least it's only on the car for few weeks.

Lol I would never get one of those things in any of my cars. I think my insurance co would drop me. I can see it now.

Them: "Sir is there a reason you were at 100% throttle followed by 100% brakes then back to 100% throttle? Sounds like you have road rage"

Me: "Nope not at all that is a great corner. Hard on the brakes let off turn in and power out"

Anyway, all of that big brother crap is not for me. If money is tight you can certainly save money that way. But if you cant refrain then youre gunna screw yourself and your rates will go up even more or better yet they may drop you.

Is that what they look for? Just a couple weeks of data then its off? If thats the case I will just lend it to my grandma for a few weeks
