wing or no wing
stock wing is the best IMO I really like the shape of it and is the best looking factory spoiler I've ever seen. Some people (that I've never met) think it's immature but for me it's quite the opposite, it makes the car more serious since it does also have a lot of purpose. If they call me boy racer, sad on them to think so. I have a list of mods worth more than their shiny new loaner haha..even stock the evo is a serious machine in the racing community so the wing is justified.
Wing or no wing, it's still un-mistakably an evo. unlike Subaru where the base wrx and sti look almost identical it's hard to mistake an evo for a lancer unless you know nothing about cars, in which case who cares.

I vote wing
but I have rust under the rear left side of the spoiler.. where from? idfk.
I read about someone else having rust in the same spot. May be time to take the wing off for the first time haha

Wing. I did both.
Some time in 2012, I picked up an authentic Do-Luck carbon fiber trunklid, since I liked that lip that it has (at least more than a wingless carbon fiber trunk) and found a deal on a used one that was cheaper and/or less of a pain than every option other than lucking out and finding a wingless Lancer/Evo RS trunk without holes that was already painted graphite grey.
I liked the look -- it was clean and I definitely felt a lot less worried when around law enforcement. I stayed that way for maybe a year, and I remember I decided to put the original trunk back on when I was going to claybar the car for the first time, since I figured I should do every panel. When I put it back on, it just seemed right.

I still get caught up with this debate, ive had it both ways and always change my mind. some days i absolutely hate it because of the attention from immature punk kids that it brings to you along with people thinking youre a "boy racer". But then i also have my days where you realize its a purpose built performance car and want it exactly how mitsubishi designed it. The wing is evo history IMO.
I personally find the car just looks a bit naked, out of place, without the OEM wing. The dimensions of the Evo has the farthest rear of the vehicle very short, and I find without the wing the car just looks a bit odd. With the wing poking out a bit past the edge of the trunk, I think it looks as it was meant to.
That being said, I have yet to remove my wing and will be doing it soon to experiment with the aesthetics. I like the idea of zero attention being drawn.
