Mitsubishi Motors Announces new Performance Division in the US.
Lancer Evolution Evolves Faster.
CYPRESS, Calif., April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Mitsubishi Motors North America(MMNA) today announced that they would be making performance options packages available for all current 2003 Lancer Evolutions through it’s Ralliart performance division. The first performance package to be released will be the ACD/AYC performance package. This package, which includes a plug and play version of the Japanese Market only Super AYC/ACD traction control system and a mechanical Limited Slip Differential for the front, will bring the rally inspired US Lancer Evolution up to the performance specs of the European and Japanese sedan. The first packages are expected at dealer locations by mid April. Shortly after the release of this package, Ralliart plans on releasing other performance packages such as an FQ315 ECU with revised fuel and air mapping, uprated turbo and intercooler options and an anti-lag device.
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc., (MMNA) is responsible for all of the North American operations of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. As a single company consolidated on Jan. 1, 2003, MMNA and its subsidiaries manufacture, distribute, finance and market Mitsubishi brand coupes, convertibles, sedans and sport utility vehicles through a network of nearly 700 dealers in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Mitsubishi Motors sold its first vehicle in the U.S. in 1981, and began building cars here in 1988 at its manufacturing facility in Normal, Ill. How do you do a plug n play version of the SAYC when it needs:
New diff
Pump with lines to the diff
Computer
Sensors all over the place
Same for the ACD. If this is real then its going to be an expensive upgrade.
Also, i've never heard of people paying to install AYC, but i've heard plenty of people paying to take it out though.

I really starting to hate Mitsubishi...why can't they bring the AYC/ACD to the US last year when the evo first came out. How can you plug and play a AYC/ACD system to US evo? Doesnt the exhaust root differently? I don't think the AYC and ACD will cost anything less than a stock transfer case which means people who wants it need to put up some serious cash in one shot.....what a mess....
wowzzaaaazz
that is amazing.. and i just posted a thread pertaining to that this afternoon.
I could only hope this isnt a stupid april fools joke, because I couldnt find that news release anywhere on mmoa.
what the hell is plug and play supposed to mean? i just want to order my evo in one year, in yellow, with a sunroof, wing, ACD, AYC, auto a/c, 6speed, smartNAV, and maybe, just maybe even the FQ315 package if its for real.
