Car smoking- injector 3 dumping fuel need help with wiring
It does start and run without any issues.
So I've left it as a lower priority for the time being.
I also took out the ecu and inspected the motherboard. It doesn't seem to have any problems or blown fried out parts.
I have a new engine harness. Just waiting to put it in

Oh well if it starts and runs fine then its definitely not a blown FET.
Except for the fact that I've taken all the injectors out and moved them to different order. Sti happened on 3. Then took the injector plug and moved the plug to 4 and 4 filled up.
So the problem follows the wiring. Which is why I ordered the new harness.

Yah i know i deleted that part because i remember you did that. Did you ever try that test light thing i suggested? I guess it probably doesn't matter if you have a whole new harness coming in anyway. This is actually the reason why most dealers will just replace the whole harness if a wire fries, the time to troubleshoot all the potential problems can quickly end up costing more then just replacing the harness. I do electrical though so for me its kind of fun to chase down these problems.
Do you think it's still worth me running that test? I have already cut the ground off the injector as well as the ecu and ran a brand new wire and conducted the test again. Same results.
Because you ran a wire it shouldnt light up. Then plug it back into the ecu and do it again. If it lights up there is a problem either with the ECU or maybe with the ECU's grounds. Also do the same for the other injectors to verify that the behavior is unique to #3. With electronics most of the time you can't visual tell something is wrong unless it really failed badly. You usually need to get a scope on it or devise a way to test it directly and measure the results to tell if its working properly. A catastrophic failure might yield a nice charred looking part but not everything fails in that way.
