Sparkplugs Wet With Fuel

*****************SPARKPLUGS ARE WHAT ARE WET ***************** ******************* NOT INJECTORS*************

Hey guys, been having some issues with me evo 6 lately.

what happens is the car would start and idle perfectly one moment, then when I park and come back around 2 hours later (or next day), she wont start, she is getting fuel because when I check my plugs they are wet, sometimes it would randomly let off a loud backfire while im there swinging the engine.

any idea as to what I should start checking off?

car has in a new Spool up individual coil system, with a new Haltech Elite 1500.

also when im driving, the car started loosing all its power when at WOT and on higher rpms ( full boost ) car would literally fall on its face, almost like a cut in ignition. it would do that all the time now, but if I were to hold lets say between 50-75% throttle, its pulls perfect straight to the limiter.

your help would be greatly appreciated!

please I would really appreciate anyone help.

Could also be ignition related since you installed a new COP system on a new Haltech ECU. My friend who did a waste spark conversion on his E30 BMW had similar symptoms (wet spark plugs, backfire while starting or when he shut off the engine, misfire) as you and in his case it turned out his spark plug wires were mixed up. Check to make sure all your setting in Haltech are correct and your wiring is in order.

Hi Kris

As you have found, if the injector seals are wet, they need to be changed. Maybe your only issue

What fuel pressure regulator are you running? Could be a torn diaphram. Leaking fluid through the vaccum line.

"Unmetered fuel"

my mechanic thought the same, so he ordered a new diaphragm and installed it.

Got the dwell wrong on the coils or a bad connection and you've got no spark.

So check for spark.

Or better still , put the proper coils back in and it's done.

No idea why people do COP kits when the best ignition is the stock ignition.

we have been having a electrical gremlin with this car for a while now, we even thought it was the coils failing (29psi) so we changed them to the spool up COP AND installed a New Haltech Elite. im starting to think I need a new wire harness.

the thing is right, the car was running perfectly. I could only imagine the setting are done correctly in the ecu. it only starting acting this way a few days after the tuner left the island :-S

your help will be appreciated, we are having a brain buster moment with this car

Is this the first time you've pulled the spark plugs out since the haltech tune?

Are all four injectors wet the same?

The cut out in power happens because the spark plugs are fouled by fuel, this could be to a number of reasons.

Firstly, I want you to check injector duty cycle, at idle, part throttle 40-50%, and at wot at full boost and let me know if the values have changed at all from when was firstly mapped on the new haltech and the initial values.

Sorry but the spark plugs are what are wet with fuel, NOT the injectors

Dude he is asking what the duty cycle is because he thinks you are running rich... which is why your spark plugs would be wet and fouled out... once they get wet, you are better off replacing them with a new set and calling it a day as this will cause misfires (no spark) so it will not ignite the gas and boom more wet spark plugs...
