I got home yesterday and went straight to work on the intake and behold I found a few vacuum hoses broken or with holes and started to replace as I go. I started it up and it sounds better but still not there so I'm gonna take the intake manifold off so I can better visually inspect and replace the bottom ones.
But now that it sounds better than before I think I have a balance shaft 180degrees outta phase

That's what always happens when you get the tune wrong.

That is a mis-conception, although number 4 has the shortest inlet manifold runner attached to it and in theory would be the most affected my higher inlet temps and be more prone to detonation and or pre-ignition, when a bad tune is in place, but in fact any of the cylinders could/would be affected. Through my years with evos, I've seen all sorts of cylinder/piston failures in all 4, due to inappropriate mapping.

O/P, if you need any help post a video of the car running at idle, to give us an idea of what's going on.

No 4 runs the leanest with a stock tune due to getting more air.
You'll KNOW this when you pull the plugs after a hard run.

Video?
An out of time balance shaft will just cause alot of engine vibration not misfire or lawnmower sound.

Maybe post a vid.

Gave up on The video For Some reading im NOT getting it upload
But today i took The whole intake off And check And changed all The hoses going to And fro on top And The bottom on The intake i even changed The intake gasket And its still running lean at idle. I did à boost leak And found And fix The 2 leaks. That did nothing. Still sounds like à subaru.
Tomorrow ill Will check The timing From top to bottom to rule that out.
I know The balance shaft outta phase would-be NOT cause à misfire but The New motor is vibrating And increases with revs so i think it just another issues on top of The misfire.
As For à tune... im just trying to get it running right before i take it to The tuner. They Will NOT touch à sick Or sick sounding motor. So that NOT an option For me.
As i Saïd it ran fine when i got it, it ran fine when i put The built shortblock in but acting up now that The OEM Block with balance shafts install

Ok I stripped it down and checked the timing today. It was spot on so I rotated the oil pump balance shaft 180 and put everything back together.
The vibration at idle is gone but now the car sounds like a Subaru or like I have cams which I don't and it still runs lean but not at idle like before now it's lean when I drive.
The test drive was slow around my development but yeah she sounds like a subi.
the plugs are new but when I pulled them today they looked black around the threads and grey around the electrodes!!!!!!!
im beginning to wonder if I will ever turn the wheel in anger

You should narrow it down to what cylinder/s are misfiring.

Also are you sure your coils/wires are in correct cylinders

I have the same problem where it sounds like a subaru / cammed on startup. From what ive read it could be a faulty injector or coil pack. The cammed sound is it starting up and running on 2 cylinders because of the coil pack setup. Id recommend a Coil Over Plug conversion, im waiting on my spoolinup kit to come in to hopefully solve my issue. Id also check the injectors and make sure theyre spraying properly because ive seen these problems caused by that as well

I'm pretty sure my coil and wires are in the correct order. I have the OEM style so it's kinda hard to mix them up. But I did check the manual to rule that out
i downloaded the AEM series 2 software with the data logger so I'm gonna hook it up to the car and see if it will shed some light on my problem

Ok problem solved.
Now remember my 1st post. The car was running fine with the shortblock I bought it with even with the cracked piston and rings in #4 and it was still running good when and after the built shortblock was installed then that block was smoking bad so now to #3 the OEM shortblock and after this install the car sounds like a lawnmower!!!!! And I kept saying it's almost like I overlooked something. Well I did.
It turned out that the previous owner installed aftermarket injectors on the stock fuel rail and during the swap injector #4 wire connector was not seated properly in the injector due to the tight clearance between the injector and OEM fuel rail. Once the fuel rail was loosed enough and the connector properly seated the car immediately started to run perfect..
Big thanx to Anthony of AG Autosports in Pompano Beach Fl for taking the time to look and solve my very very very very did I say very frustrating issue.
Thanx a million dude
I owe u big time!!!!!!!
And thanx to all who took time to help me out on the forum
Nuff respect!!!!!!
