Yes...and then you can commit a federal offense called fraud. It's up to the repair shop to report it to anyone. Hell, even your insurance company can report it if they want to.

What you need to focus on is talking to a lawyer and hope that your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage will get your car fixed. Then work on a lawsuit against the guy who hit you.

Federal Fraud! Sure it is! Ok! Maybe you should just publish it in the local paper so everyone can know about it that way you won't get sued for not telling everyone up front! I don't think I will respond any further than this. I hope you get fixed though man.

Due to an anonymous tip I now have the drivers information. My roomate and I went to pay him a visit last night and couldn't get into the gated parking area where we believed the car to be parked. We may try later this week, but this information has been forwarded to my insurance company and they are now going to whoop some ***.

Some good news as well, my dad let me borrow some money in the mean time to get my car fixed while they are sorting out those problems. Now its time to find a good body shop that's going to give me a free rental while working on the car and do a PERFECT job fixing it.

The body shop does not provide you with a rental. That is not their responsibility at all. You have to take that up with the insurance company and they are going to tell you to go rent a car, and when you get your Evo back they will reimburse you for your rental. There is a limit to how much per day/occurance that they will repay you for so don't go renting an Escalade thinking you'll get all your money back.

I'm aware of that, I was actually meaning to say loaner car. I have 2 appointments tomorrow with shops to get a better look at what the damage really is. 1 of them will provider a loaner 1 won't. Just want to make sure these places are top quality.

Wow, I did not know that our bumper covers were that strong. For an impact at 25-30 mph, it is amazing that there was not more damage. As far as insurance, you got the license plate and hopefully you also have the uninsured motorist deductible waiver which will allow you to get your car fixed without paying a deductible provided that your insurer deems this an uninsured motorist claim.
its a peice of plastic... not that strong lots of hidden damage trust me i know i cliped a telephone pole dodgeing a deer long storie.. and doesnt look all that bad but lots of body damage under neath.

There should be no leniency for drunk drivers. They should be charged every time. The first conviction should require loss of license for one year and forfeiture of the vehicle being driven. The second conviction should be loss of license for lifetime and forfeiture of vehicle being driven. The third conviction should be capital punishment. Until the consequence is far more severe than now there will be no change in behavior.

I am glad dude you took it back I was close I said 6 grand with exhaust and 5 without exhaust. Damage sounds very similar to the one we worked on. I wish you the best of luck to getting this resolved.

Re:

Unfortunatly this POS hit & run a-hole is a product of our wonderful liberal society. Drunks, and other retchs of life run free causing havoc while the working man has to deal with the BS and not be able to retaliate against it. I like good ole justice myself. I say round up all the winners that cause trouble here in the and send them to the frontline in Iraq and see how tough they are then . Good luck with your situation, it will work out.
