Oil pump seal

Hi fellow evo owners,
I am really wishing someone can help me out here. I just built a long rod 2.4 with mivec head. i have a oil leak from behind the oil pump sprocket. what is weird to me is that the front case/ oil pump is brand new OEM pump. any ideal why it would leak? could the seal be bad from the manufacture? I will take the timing belt and the oil pump sprocket off to see whats causing the oil lean. the whole built including the oil pump have 140 miles. its not a really bad leak but its a leak and its annoying. one last question i deleted my balance shafts how would i be able to take the sprocket off? i have an impact gun but wouldn't it just turn with it if there is no resistant on it? sorry if i am reviving an old subject/Threat but i couldn't find anything that relates to my issue as far as mileage and everything being brand new. Thanks in advance.

never changed this out, but I was looking at the procedure and I don't see a seal behind the oil pump sprocket. Sure it's not leaking from the timing chain cover seal?

yes there is a seal behind the sprocket which the sprocket goes in to seal it. if you look at evo front case and see the oil pump shaft you will see the burgundy color seal in there. and i have a evo 9

Who knows how long that oil pump sat on the shelf before you got it. Very possible for the seal to have gone bad.

Ya that's true. I ordered a new seal and a new oil pump sprocket hopefully that will fix the leak
