Can a axle leak trans fluid from boot?

i noticed the other day I had a drip hanging on my alternater so I cleaned it up with brake cleaner to see where it could be coming from. I looked under again and same thing, the axle seal looks dry but the boot has wet spots on it it's not motor oil cuz my oil is brown and it don't smell like motor oil so is it possible for the axle to fill with tcase fluid and spit it out (passenger side axle)

An axle can not leak transfluid
However, the axle port on the trans has a seal which can.

Closely related questions, but different.
There is no fluid passage internally from an axle to the trans.
