Evo 9 best intake

Hey guys. So my plan for my evo 9 is have a pretty simple set up. Im not much into high boost/psi and no plans to convert to e85. But i do somewhat want to add a bit of power. Im thinking just an intake, exhaust, and a tune. Any suggestion on what intake is good out there! Im thinkin about getting an ets intake 4" with a k&n filter. Does anyone have opinions about this intake? Thanks

Youre in CA!

Should only choose an intake that is CARB approved

I run the short run, AEM open intake (worth 15 whp)

Just a thought!

Yeah! Like MinusPrevious said. In CA, should use AEM or Injen as they're CARB approved. But I found the HKS intake is best for power. Its filter is so thin.

The stock intake w/ a good drop in filter is good for a lot of power, certainly more then a stock turbo is capable of making. I think your money would be better spent on something like a LICP instead. That is of course IMO.

Before I get flamed: What i mean is the stock intake isn't going to be the thing that is holding back power until you start doing some major upgrades, and that the money could be better spent on other mods first. I'm not saying that installing an aftermarket intake won't give you a power increase, simply that at OP's level other mods will net better gains $ for $.

The above post noted the Injen is CARB. I only went w/the AEM, as it was recommended by my tuner. He knew, almost to the exact WHP, what each mod does (HFC vs no CAT, Drop-in vs Open intake, etc)

With the proper bolt-ons & CAT less, running E85, will net an honest 400+ Dynojet WHP

I can't speak on my experience as I installed the Intake with a 02 dump, test pipe, uicp, licp, and fmic all at the same time. I know there's information on the internet stating how much power just the Intake got them

Theres factors involved (i.e. tune, fuel, boost, etc) but working w/my turner,IIRC, its (open intake) worth 10-15 WHP generally speaking

FWIW, If you are on the stock turbo you should stick with the stock box with a drop in filter. Its going to be quieter and pull cooler air in from the front.

I made what everyone else makes on the stock turbo @30psi 400/400 on a dynojet on E85.
