Question Evo 8/9 MAP Varex exhaust opinions?

Came across this on IG.

I currently have a Tomei Expreme on my car. I love being loud, so much so my tag says "LOUDAF".

But I have a newborn coming in a few months and I need to quiet down my car a bit. I considered just swapping the testpipe out for a vibrant muffler, but found this option instead.

Does anyone have it? Or know of anyone who does?

How quiet is it in person?
How loud is it on the "Race" setting?
Is it really as simple as just hitting a button and switching between loudness settings?

Only downfall for me on this is that it's stainless steel and not titanium :/

Here's the description on the product;

"This full 3" exhaust system features a single 4" diameter tip for a clean, subtle look. It is constructed entirely of 304 stainless steel for ultimate durability. It also features a v-band disconnect for easy installation and removal, and includes all necessary hardware and gaskets.

The Varex Muffler

VAREX mufflers combine both the design technology of the stock muffler and the performance muffler into one single compact unit. A sophisticated butterfly valve mechanism is implemented to redirect the exhaust gas flow and vary be-tween the two.

For higher sound level, the exhaust flows are directed through the 3" opening which produces maximum power with a robust sound level (or the “sports car note”) and near-zero resistance. For lower sound levels the exhaust flows are directed through the chambered path (similar design with the stock muffler) and produces a minimal sound level that gives you the best in-car comfort.

Angle of the valve is also controllable and can be adjusted to stop at any point between sports mode and silence mode. This gives you further freedom to set the optimal sound level according to your desired preference."

Curious whether or not it will leak over time.

Had one on my talon while I was in Hawaii. Went from a straight 3" with a 4" chrome tip and it quieted down a bit with it full open. Full baffled the engine was louder then the exhaust.

I have it for almost 3 years now.
And the number of times I have been pulled over, then shutting it off and me walking away without any fines. I'd say it was well worth the investment.

I had a blitz exhaust before the varex, and the drone was UNBEARABLE. Drone is gone with the varex. I would definitely buy it if exhaust noise is an issue where you live.

I dont doubt they wouldn't like it haha!
When we used to babysit our neighbors daughter my catless STI would actually put her to sleep every time we went for a ride.

-but the fire-breathing mother doesn't want it being loud with the newborn in the car. So...new options haha

That's what I wanted to hear.

have you had any issues with it over the years?

I'm in Hawaii now, but going back to GA later this year... I imagine it would be helpful to have during a ticket, lol.

The only issue I experienced when I had it for the first 6 months, was the butterly valve getting stuck. I believe it was due to carbon. Then I sprayed some bike chain lube on it and has worked fine since.

Before installing it, it was such a hassle installing and removing a silencer. Now its just pressing a button.
