ok so I've been having the weirdest thing happening on and off. To start off my car is an 03 evo 8. I have the motor built about 10k miles ago. Never had this problem before. I had the crank position sensor replaced while the motor was built. So, what happens is I'll be driving down the road not even in boost. and my check engine light will flash/blink one time for a second. And when it happens I lose power for that second. But once it goest back to normal. It's hard to explain and is not consistent at all. Happens at the most random times. This even happens at idle. Also, sometimes my car won't start. Will crank over and nothing. Try it a few times and fires right up. I have no idea where to start to diagnose what this problem is. Hoping someone had some input. Thank you.

Is it just the SES light that comes on? Not any other lights?

 

Is your ECU set to flash the CEL when you get 3+ counts of knock?

 

yes it is. This doesn't happen in wot. Cruising speeds. Even at idle.

 

check engine light blinks one time for half a second. That's it.

 

I don't think you mentioned it in your post, but did you try scanning for codes?

 

i have yes. Nothing comes up. Even if I check right after it happens.
