Sounds like a resistance issue.

Check the wire as others have said.

You can also overlay the wires from cluster to engine bay for testing. Run your own wires see if it fixes.

Do you know how to use a meter? Test resistance in the wires from component to component. Also check continuity from wire to wire to emsure they arent touching. Then check continuity from each wire to ground to ensure no short is present.
