Wait until you find what you want, don't settle, trust me
Finding one with records is sometimes hard as well. How many miles did it have when you purchased your Evo?

175k. Couple misc records. But you can generally tell when an Evo has been cared for. I've found that condition of the interior says a lot about the condition of the engine

What's not being said anywhere in this thread is why or how did it get a salvage title. Time for carfax.

I'm sorry I forgot to mention that the Evo that I'm talking about above with 215k miles is not rebuilt. It'd actually a clean title. I don't know if it had rust. My thread was in regards to rebuilt titles in general since they're cheaper. But yes the yellow one above with 225k miles that has been launched and tracked has a clean title. Does that change the decision on whether I should buy it?

It does change in terms of price. For clean title the price sounds better. I bought mine in 08 for 22k with 37k miles.
im so glad i did. Oil chane every 3k miles and regular trans and diff oil changes. Only issues ive had and with window regulators and a leaky radiator. Its sitting at 116k miles now.

i say drive the car for half hour or more, get a feel for it. My car sees track time and its my daily too. No issues yet but if there is ill fix em.
if you love the car you'll be happy to fix it these cars are awesome.

All depends on the reason for a rebuilt title. Mine was rebuilt due to a flood. Never had any paint or engine work.

My first evo was an R-title due to front end wreck.

I was all happy and such that I finally would have my dream car. Soon after ran into wiring issues, found previous damage that was not fixed correctly...

I say unless it was a theft car, or very light flood damage... Id pass.

I purchased a rebuilt titled Red Evo IX MR 5 years ago. It has been awesome for me. Super clean and very fun weekend ride. I checked everything out before buying it thoroughly and found it was not a major issue for being "totaled" from insurance claim. Basically, suspension was damaged on front drivers side as well as front member was dented. Everything had been repaired with all OEM parts so I was ok with the purchase.

I will say, I am currently trying to sell it and for as clean as it is, with lower miles (39K) everyone wants to give a dirt cheap lowball price to purchase it. You will have no choice but to private sell it and you will need to find someone looking specifically for a vehicle like this.

If you're looking for a weekend car or potential track build, they can be worth it. But if you're looking for a daily driver, then be careful because you will lose on your investment.

ok... boys and girls..
These cars are at least 10 years old now and they aint getting no younger.

They die day per day and year per year and they aint making anymore... so we going to have to start taking what we can get.

i say if the car alignment is ok... and the car drives good and looks good... who cares if it has a rebuilt title.

Its just one more evo i see going down the road which makes me smile and i always say "Look!!! there is an EVO!!!!"

Save every one of them we can!!!!

Depends on each situation differently and why it was salvaged.Involving frame damage or flood beware of the severity...

I myself would not have any problem buying a rebuilt title car as long as the price was right on it and you could see what had happened to the car, with that being said i would run away from a flood car, but as long as the car was fixed right i don't see any problem with a rebuilt title.

Depends on your intent. If it's something to build, track, and have fun with, then get one with a rebuilt title and put the price discount towards parts. If you plan to be the end user, then it won't make a difference. But no matter how nice you make it, if you ever go to sell it, that rebuilt title will knock the value considerably.
