Rad Fan Question/Advice Needed
Rad Fan Question/Advice Needed
I drive a '96 Evo 4. My radiator has the front fan and the rear fan (one that sits on the ac condenser and the other one that sits in the engine bay on the rad). The front fan, that sits on the condenser, regularly comes on and seems to do its thing. For the record I don't run AC. The condenser has a hole in it so and I live in a fairly cool place so windows down has always sufficed.
My issue(?) is with the fan mounted on the rad in my engine bay. I have NEVER seen this thing come on, even after 25 minutes of heavy track driving in 27 degree celsius heat. Like my manifold was legit glowing red and the fan was off.
I can turn this fan on via Evoscan and it'll run, that is the only time I have ever seen it run. Anyway, I want to delete this thing. With my Mishi rad this fan takes up a ridiculous amount of space in the engine bay. I have never had temp issues, car always stay steady under 100 celsius even when driven hard.
Does anyone have any personal experience deleting this fan? I honestly just want it gone and it doesn't seem to do a damn thing. Thanks folks.

I have never seen the fan come on in my two years of ownership (with the exception of remotely starting it via my laptop). The car has never had any temp issues. Doesn't overheat, stays between 87-95 celsius in idle traffic. I don't have AC. I cannot think of anything else that's affect the rad fan.

Yeah, if you can drive for 2 years without the fan you don't need it.
Personally, I'd fix it because I want a vehicle that can work in all conditions no matter the climate, driving conditions or how I happen to use it. With my luck, the day I removed the fan I'd find myself moving to Death Valley.
